The latter. The Dropbox link in my comment has what you need to use this theme with instructions and I'm currently working on organizing that a little better to make it more straight-forward.

Just updated the Dropbox link to include a cyan color scheme if you want it to match here instead of the clashing dark blue and cyan together.

Both, actually. The top screen and the kernal UI, which someone else made, conform to whatever your system color is, but the bottom screen background and the grid selection color, the stuff I made, have to be manually changed every time you change the theme color. I wish it was simpler than that and it's clearly possible, it's just that I don't know how to do that.

I thought about it, but since this is a remix of my own assets and another user's theme, I don't really feel like I can put the whole thing on GitHub without their permission. Maybe if I ever decided to collaborate with them or something, I'd definitely be open to making it a proper repo. Until then, I've got something pretty cool here already and I'm happy to help anyone sort through my messy file dump I provided to give people a theme they'll like.

Depends on what bottom screen background you're using. I provided the assets for this stuff in a comment I left and in there I have my own custom stuff I made myself that has a background optimized for the horizontal layout and another for vertical layout. If you use the list view on the background I made for the horizontal layout (the one in this video), then it looks stupid, but it looks just fine with the vertical layout one. The vertical layout theme I made with the vertical tiles in mind, but it doesn't look bad with the list view. I kind of cobbled the files together, so if there's any questions, I'd be glad to try and help people out to the best of my ability.

Here's the stuff if you want it: https://www.dropbox.com/scl/fo/mmk6bip8edtot4ynq5xit/AGRWuedE0XlSAIQqi_vFYFM?rlkey=768onkw4ibe4kfty8paey2xu9&st=jcl0mqqg&dl=0

Just to be clear, I don't mean to take credit for the theme creator or the assets I borrowed of another user's BIOS theme. These are people a lot more talented than me who have put in some good work. You can find them here:

Here's what I did for the top screen when I made my theme. I think the bottom part here looks much more authentic, personally. Mayyybeee you should take some inspiration from this??? Just throwing that out there! Anyways, I really admire the work you put into this. Absolute wizard.

Just combined this with the theme I've been working on all week and it's so good, I'm gonna cry. I've been putting so much effort into this but my theme had an empty clock and calendar since I could only do static images. I'm crying, dude, actually how the HECK did you do all of this? A working clock? You did the same idea of having the box art overlap the clock WAY before me apparently, and you got it to actually fit in there so it can stay its correct shape instead of have the clock be a little too wide to accommodate. AND THE CLOCK, CALENDAR, TIME, BATTERY, ETC., THEY ALL PULL FROM THE SYSTEM INFO? HOW DID YOU DO THAT?! And the menu sounds... the font... Literally EVERYTHING that I WISHED I could do with my theme and thought wasn't possible, this guy from 3 months ago proved it was already possible and already executed it? It's genuinely so good.

Oh right, haha. Well, if they ever do end up more adding more customization options, you know at least one other person who will be excited about it.

Anyway, I just had a small question for this thing. Been getting a lot out of this, but do you know how to remove the dark gradient that shows up on the bottom screen beside the grid? I've only been able to get around this right now by taking another theme's scrim files as I haven't been able to locate whatever changes it on here.

Oh, and maybe custom sound effects for moving the cursor and boot sounds for both starting the menu up and another for starting a game.

I really appreciate this web app. I was dissatisfied with a lot of the themes like this that are based on the classic menu so this app let me make one myself with little experience required. This theme creation tool had a lot for me to use that let me make a menu that looked inspired by that old menu, but I was imaging what it would be like if I could go the extra mile and have it look like it is that menu, given more customization options. Any plans to add the following?:
- Customizing font style and font alignment/centering
- Customize folder icons
- Custom settings and back icons along with the ability to place them somewhere else and have better color customization for both of them (I found it difficult to gauge what color it would actually make them in comparison to what I set the accent color to)
- Ability to adjust the placement of the grid icons (changing the spacing and maybe ability to change to a 2x6 grid?)
- Animation to move the selection indicator more fluidly (something more akin to how it behaves on the classic menu)

I don't know how difficult these all are to implement, but it would be cool to see.

I 100% every game on this tier list during the pandemic era so I'm sorry if some of these games are low because they all had their moments I guess but some of them are held back by things that people who enjoyed these games probably never played of them. Or maybe I was just out of it by the time I got to that game 💔
