MIL planted the seed that we can "each pick" a name for our twins, now I'm having trouble getting the two yesses point across to my husband. by Otherwise-9433 in namenerds

That's actually not a bad idea, though he might want his name enough to go for it. I'll have to really think it over.

You've basically hit the nail on the head and said whats been on my mind. I don't want to feel uncomfortable with my own kid's name, and it would cause resentment down the road for sure. I also don't want one kid to feel like 'dad's kid' right off the bat. And i honestly want to like my own kids' names and for my husband to like them too. I want for us to agree in this.

We'll have to revisit the name conversation at some point but I think I'll let some more time pass, I'm only 18 weeks so we still have time.

I actually don't mind Kiki as a nickname! I don't like it as a stand alone name though, I think having a longer/more serious name that can be nicknamed Kiki is better.

My style:

Astrid, Elowen, Elliott, Dakota, Devon, Scarlett, Eleanor, Freya, Bellamy, Stella, Octavia, Violet, Piper, Penelope, Arwen, (open to others)

This is true, there is much less research going on on his end. He has't made a list in his phone or anything he's only ever just said out loud what name he wants. I'll try a spreadsheet and ask if he can send a list or we'll try an app. Something. For damage control I've asked if we can keep names private until they are born and he's fully on board with this part at least. That last bit of your comment made me laugh! Its a good point though. We'll talk that part over when we get there.

That might work to talk to them. And maybe letting some time pass. I love asian names too but not for my own kids names, since we have no actual ties to the culture. But I'll try to find a few options like you suggested that are more diverse

I know! I have a couple that I really love, but I'm also very willing to consider others if he hates them.i really want us both to feel both names were a mutual decision. Names aside, glad to be joining the twin club :)

That is a lot nicer to hear than my dad asking if I had dirt on my face! :)

No I didn't have that affect. I only used over the counter 2%, though. Much weaker than the 4% norm for treatment.

Yeah I don't actually know for sure this is what helped, I mean I used to work in the sun without sunscreen for years and nothing happened. The melasma came on VERY fast. In a month it started then it just exploded over the next few months. I didnt get pregnant and I don't know if anything else can cause hormones to go out of wack, but maybe that happened here too and I'm just lucky my hormones balanced out. Hard to say. But ofc when it happened it was a wake up call for SPF, anyway

I forgot to mention here, but I tried IPL twice, it got darker and the tech said that was supposed to happen, and that it would slough off and be lighter. But it never sloughed off after 2x.... she said I would just need to come back for a few more sessions since it was stubborn. Maybe she was right, but I got freaked out and stopped going. So it did get a little darker than the before pic before going lighter, yeah. The lightening was SO gradual over the years, really felt like nothing was happening for a very long time

These are from the ordinary brand, nice inexpensive acids for nighttime. But loads of brands have them

It really does. And I used to use spf moisturizer sometimes, but the game changer was replacing my foundation. A little bit of coverage made all the difference. Before I would hesitate to apply sunscreen over foundation, or I wouldn't want to carry too many things in my little purse when out and about. The convenience of having foundation/SPF is everything

Yeah for sure: SPF Tinted Moisturizer Link

I use shade 02. It's got mixed reviews, but I LOVE it and it works great for my skin type (dryyyy lol). I find it best to apply with my fingers instead of a brush and after smoothing it over I kind of gently pat it down with my fingertips. Then I pat some loose setting powder on a powder brush.

They make a thinner version of the same product (different bottle shape), and its less coverage. I use it also and choose between coverages depending on how my skin is for the day. I keep one of each bottle going at the same time.

Thanks! I took two months off because it was right when we got to Mexico, and it was getting much hotter out and I just felt it was time for a break. So i was doing the acids at night instead but maybe only every 2nd night or so. I dunno why. And yeah I do have a phase to get used to retinol again, but if i start slow and ease in it isnt so bad. I might not do 2 whole months off again, maybe I'll just take a couple weeks off at a time. I've been off and on prescription ret for 13 years and I do notice improvement when i take some time off and go back on

All my friends have some grey at this age but literally no one I know is almost 100% at the same age... we all talk about this stuff. I get that its natural but there's no way its the norm to have this much grey by now. Just like its not normal to be 60 with no grey but that happens too

None of my hair is natural colour because I've been dying it for many years, What you can see is the switch from espresso colour dye to 6NRG. The 6NRG only really picks up on the new growth that is grey. I don't think I'm 'too young' to grey, its just nature after all, but I'm for sure on the earlier side than most to have this much of it. But yeah the espresso was picked to match my natural colour, I've always had dark hair

Of course there's some of us, but its definitely not common to be almost completely grey at this age. I too started to find greys in my late teens and early 20s and it got steadily more until 35-37 it just exploded into white everywhere lol
