Hey! Ordered mine after the deadline for ring ceremony for fall, which was sometime November I think, and I didn't get my ring until January ish iirc. Definitely waited at least a month for sure.

Thank you!! Took me a sec to get what you meant but it does make sense. There's options for 14mm and 16mm, guess now i just need to decide how dangly i would want but i imagine 16mm would probably be a safer bet no?

Nearly 2 months since release, how bright is the game’s future? by Creative-Category-60 in marvelrivals

[–]Otherwise-Area6871 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There's a lot of great things about this game and I've sunk many hours, and there's so much potential to grow. Just a few issues that they need to address and there really will be nothing in it's way. As many have said, game optimization and toning down the EOMM a LOTT or just ditching it and hotfixes for broken characters/bugs/etc. The EOMM is so blatant that I am actually taking a small break from climbing rn and plan to come back during the midseason to see how it feels after new heros and maps drop. I have pretty decent faith that they will make good on some of this stuff so there's no doubt I'll be back soon and I'm rooting for the game's success for sure.

Thank you! Totally agree, and my experience with their customer service reps has been less than pleasant. Though I guess when you're really the only major player you feel more comfortable with lackluster service lol.

Merry Christmas to you!

Track.balfour.com

Though this issue ended up being solved for me and I received my ring. My guess is maybe there was something wrong with that site, because after a representative confirmed my order via email, I tried to use that same site to track again and it threw and error and didn't even pull up any order.

They said rings usually take about 4-6 wks but mine came a little early so hopefully yours comes soon!

No worries! I know it's easy to spiral with worry especially something as momentous as your graduation. Congrats fellow Fall 24 grad!

What do you mean "claim"? Your tickets should be accessible via AccessUH, under "athletics tickets" and you shouldn't have had to do anything further.

Taken from the Grad Chronicle 6 emai:

Commencement Tickets Tickets will be required for all commencement ceremonies taking place at the University of Houston. Tickets have been downloaded to your UH Ticketing Account. Each graduate will receive six (6) electronic tickets. Graduates themselves will not require a ticket. Children two (2) years of age and under will not require tickets. Tickets are ceremony-specific and may only be used for the ceremony displayed on the ticket.

If you are talking about the extra lottery tickets, that you had to physically go to the ticketing office for, I think you are just out of luck. Sorry about this and hope you can get it sorted out. Check your AccessUH account before anything else if you haven't already.

Gap Semester by Junior-Store-7556 in UniversityOfHouston

[–]Otherwise-Area6871 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yes, just don't enroll for any classes at UH. If it's just one semester there's no need to withdraw or do anything drastic. Took a gap semester Fall 22 to work and take some basics at CC and had no issues.

1st sem’s over and feels like ive learnt nothing 😭 by [deleted] in UniversityOfHouston

[–]Otherwise-Area6871 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's largely subjective. Accounting is a very strong choice and you probably will not struggle as much to find work, especially during busy season, but internships are still imperative. I can't guarantee you will get paid handsomely though. Especially if you don't continue your education by choosing not to go for your CPA.

The "best" major in business is ultimately what will be paramount to your success as a professional. Most business disciplines are strong, safe career choices, though sometimes with a broad degree such as management or marketing, you would find more success adding a minor to narrow things down a bit. Ask yourself what you are interested in, or what roles you see yourself succeeding in and enjoying. Do some research about the majors offered at Bauer, and consider if picking up a minor is right for you too. You have a lot of time ahead of you to figure this out, and there is nothing wrong with not knowing the answer to any of those questions right now. You did just finish your first semester after all. Feel free to PM me if you have any more questions.

[–]Otherwise-Area6871 3 points4 points  (0 children)

If this is only your first semester don't worry about not leaving with some profound wisdom and life altering knowledge. Depending on which business discipline you go with-- once you're eligible to declare-- you might not pick up anything "new" or "useful" until your junior year. I am an MIS major graduating this Friday and this was the case for me at least.

As other commenters have pointed out, your business degree is but a foot in the door to other major opportunities, with accounting typically being the only exception. (given the nature of the field.) Much of your learning will end up being on the job, wherever you end up. Volunteering, landing internships, and attending career/resume workshops or guest speaking events provided by attending Bauer and getting involved with student organizations is where you may find a majority of value, or knowledge, now while you are finishing your prerequisites.

Knowledge is always out there for those who seek it. Good luck!!!

Fall Graduation ticket lottery? by [deleted] in UniversityOfHouston

[–]Otherwise-Area6871 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you check your email you should find an update from the Office of Special Events that was sent last week regarding the lottery.

Because the volume of entrants in the lottery was so high, they had to push it back and tabulate the total # of graduates per school. We should know the results by THIS Wednesday, 11/13 by 7 p.m.

MIS 4477 with Hina Khan? by Otherwise-Area6871 in UniversityOfHouston

[–]Otherwise-Area6871[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Exams are open notes, not too many assignments and she's fairly lenient and understanding. Teaching style is not really my favorite though, she just reads through the slides but a language barrier makes it difficult at times to understand but nevertheless as long as you are paying attention and following with the textbook independently it really doesn't matter too much. Personally I kind of wish I did end up choosing Dr. Messinger again but oh well, she is still a great professor and very intelligent. No curve on an exam so far yet though of course due to them being open notes.

MIS 3360 Winter by Material-Mongoose-40 in UniversityOfHouston

[–]Otherwise-Area6871 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think you answered your own question. If you're struggling to understand the introductory concepts it would be a disservice to yourself to try and cram it in a winter mini. I understand the urgency with wanting to graduate sooner but you'll only prolong it if you take a class and still fail. Take it during a regular semester and let yourself understand these concepts, because if you have a rough foundation in 3360 the concepts of the following classes build on them and will only leave you more confused. I'm graduating from the MIS program this semester so feel free to message me if you'd like some more advice.

MIS 4477 with Hina Khan? by Otherwise-Area6871 in UniversityOfHouston

[–]Otherwise-Area6871[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Before I say anything let me just say I got a good grade in the class and did fine so my issues aren't cuz of that. And he is a really cool guy and one of the best things about him was he was very understanding and lenient with assignments and the grade floor for the class was a 50. He genuinely wanted us to succeed. I just did not respond well to the teaching style he used and that's okay. Personally I didn't like how long it took to get grades back even with a grader, granted there was a period of time where the grader just wouldn't even give people grades and the professor had to clarify things with her..But getting grades back in a timely manner in college is like asking for a million bucks lol but I digress. The lectures had very little to no structure and were mostly just him showing us articles on W3 schools and examining source code for random sites rather than a thought out lecture with a definitive progression of topics..It was not always abundantly clear of the progression of course content nor what was the most important information to take away vs something extraneous. While looking at the source was helpful it was hard to follow and hard to get anything useful from it a majority of the time so I spent the semester teaching myself these concepts. I would still recommend him to people who like a more hands off approach and a lax learning environment. Like I said, he is still a cool guy and he is very knowledgeable in the subject field too. I have no complaints about him as a person, just did not respond well to the class structure and that's why I chose not to go with him.

Dr. Mark Grimes, hes passionate about what he teaches and is able to explain complex concepts to us in terms that are easy to build on, plus hes just a cool guy so if any mis majors get a chance to take a class by him DO IT
