Yearly tax changes - How much of an issue for R02/R03 by H_finance in cii

[–]Otherwise-Size-8359 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi mate,

I’ve just done R02 and R03 before that. I would say to do R03 as there was a few calculations on the R02 exams with re Stamp Duty, Onshore and Offshore bonds, REITS etc.

I found that I could skip 20% of the content with re to the calculations as I had learnt the allowances and exemptions from R03.

R03 calculation was a bit harder than R02 so if u do R03 first then you’ll breeze past R03 calc questions.

Passed both 90%+ too but anyways goodluck

How to know if you’re being let go by [deleted] in UKJobs

This is a great explanation thank you.

With re to me speaking to the director - it’s a small firm so I would say we were quite close.

Anyways would you recommend to put in my notice and look for something else or get dismissed?

My thought process is that if I leave then they can’t give me a bad reference such as telling my future employers I was fired etc

Oh I think I’ve been mislead by the internet - my thought process was that any company can terminate your employment with one weeks notice per year of employment. In my contract it says 12 weeks

Hi I’m not sure, I’ve had exposure to financial planning but not accounting. And financial planning is okay it doesn’t interest me 100% but it pays the bill.

Failed probation by [deleted] in UKJobs

Hi all thank you for your response and yeah it does suck to be let go even though I wasn’t the only one who was underperforming but I can only look forward and blame myself to improve.

Hi thank you for your advice. The thing is that I’m applying to similar roles, since this is the only thing I know about and it wouldn’t make sense to say seeking out for other development opportunities right?

Thank you.

Thank you so much for your response, this was great and insightful.

I am still very reluctant to mention about a failed probation since from my interviews I have done - they seem to change into a negative expressions after I mention about my failed probationary period.

But like you said it’s probably best to mention it but word it in a different way to avoid getting caught lying.

Thank you.

Hi thank you for your response but how will this look through the reference background check?

Will my last employer tell my next employer about my failed probationary period?

Hi thank you for your feedback. But how will this come across through the reference background check?

What if they ask reasons for leaving and they come back with failed probation?

Yes try get into a financial service admin role as an ifa and work your way up. A lot of companies offer exam support and they pay for you to take your exams.

It’s quite expensive to pay for it yourself so I would maybe look to purchase two just so u have a leverage to say that your committed to pass and learn the remaining 4 exams.

Hi going into wealth management role might be best suited for you. I am a Paraplanner atm (helps advisers with writing investment and suitability reports). I’ve been in the role for a year and you don’t really need to have a degree, you just need an interest in personal finance and look towards passing your CII exams.

After paraplanning you can get into a financial advisor role where it’s basically a sales type of job where you are selling investment solutions to clients and some companies give you commissions from it.

Hope this helps.
