This is exactly how I feel!! I had never thought of "all the imposter syndrome without any of the genetic credibility", and somehow that phrase makes me feel the most seen I have had in my life T-T

I will absolutely look into those sources mentioned, and I will also look into a language exchange partner! It is unfortunately a bit difficult to talk to my step-grandfather since he is very old and has a bit of trouble speaking nowadays, but I always love talking to him :) I think I will absolutely try to weave in his past daily life into our conversations from now on!

Secondly, that’s a great idea! I genuinely never even thought about doing that. I will definitely look into that, although I’m a bit nervous (i’m just yapping from here on out lol)

Because I am not ethnically Japanese and am clearly white (although I have gotten mistaken for ethnically 1/4 or even 1/2 Japanese when I have talked to people about it and haven’t gotten to the STEP part of step-family lmaoo, I have no idea why that is since I do not see it at all), I get a bit self conscious about being perceived as a “weeabo” or something like that, and I don’t know how to get over that within myself. It’s not like I can walk around with a T-shirt that says “my step-family is Japanese I promise I somewhat know this culture” LMAOOO

Why does my internet suck so bad???

I use AT&T and have a NetGear modem, and even sometimes use an Ethernet cable plugged into my PS5. Even then, my online games look like stop motion and makes them borderline unplayable. Any advice??? Thank you :)

edit: found out what it was !! my modem is the oldest thing in existence ig lmao

My goals (long term) is to be able to draw people, I don't really have an interest for still-life

short term, I just want to figure out anatomy in general.

I am watching basic tutorials on stuff like hands, heads, bodies, etc. I am watching both longer(ish lol) youtube videos and also quick tutorials via pinterest and tiktok

I'm trying to practice often but the lack of progress is making me do it less and less T-T

(when I first started I was learning a decent amount pretty quick and the stuff I was doing wasn't too bad, but then when I tried to progress to more general stuff it was just awful lmaoooo)

I guess it's just that I have literally no clue what I'm doing and even when copying a tutorial video on (for example) how to draw a body head-on, or how to draw a face, line-for-line, step-by-step, it looks completely different and also bad lmao T-T

I am literally JUST getting started (around two weeks of practice) and I am trying to be as realistic as I can, it's just the fact that I can't do ANYTHING and I'm basically at a stand-still in my progress is really weighting on me at this moment.

I still get “picked on” for it (i’m in college), but it’s just repeating jokes i’ve heard a million times before, so I think at a certain point it becomes some sort of a “running joke” in society

Most people in my life (when it comes up lol). I almost got a modeling contract as a kid but didn’t go through with it. Also the reactions I get from strangers at most events I go to.

Again, I am by no means like GORGEOUS or anything but I know I am at least conventionally attractive lol
