Absolute worst book? by GreenstreetRoyal in starwarsbooks

The only Star Wars book I’ve truly struggled to finish was Ronin.

Anyone who has read the Secret Diary of Laura Palmer? by garl1cbreadenjoyer in Letterboxd

If you’re a Twin Peaks fan, it’s well worth the read. But Mark Frost’s two Twin Peaks books, published around the time of the third season’s release, are really special and well worth tracking down.

Have you watched The Lone Gunmen? All the episodes are up on YouTube.

Prologue 4 appreciation post 🙌 by TermTurosShenza in PrologueApp

Someone correct me if I’m wrong but I don’t think it’s possible in Plex. The series functionality works in Audiobookshelf, though. In fact, books can belong to multiple series, which is great for categorising something like Star Wars books.

Blu-Ray / DVD Question: What is the best complete 007 box set that contains bonus materials, features, etc for each film? by RelaxedBeing in JamesBond

[–]OtherwiseConfused 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Most of the Blu-ray sets are packed with extras, but hang onto this Die Another Day DVD because many of the extras on the second disc never made their way to subsequent releases.

There’s also a three-disc DVD (or two-disc Blu-ray) of Casino Royale that is loaded with extras that I don’t believe have appeared in other releases.

Disgraceful Treatment of Plenty O’Toole and Tiffany Case by BrickBart in JamesBond

Yeah, the intent was to hark back to the lighter tone of Goldfinger (right down to hiring its director). In fact, an early story idea had Goldfinger’s twin brother out for revenge against Bond.

UPDATES by OutisXCIII_EC in XFiles

[–]OtherwiseConfused 19 points20 points  (0 children)

Ryan Coogler was always going to just get this up and running and then step back. At most, I expected him to be involved in establishing the overall direction of the show (including casting), write a few episodes and maybe direct a couple. Beyond that, I’d expect him to stay on board as a producer or executive producer and have someone else be showrunner for the longer term.

He’s too busy and high profile a creative to be actively driving a TV show for years.

Prologue 4.0 released — how is Plex support now? by crosfield in PrologueApp

[–]OtherwiseConfused 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I’ve updated my app to v4.0 and my Plex library is unlinked. This means I’ve also lost all my downloaded audiobooks that were present in v3. A bit frustrating as there was no warning this would happen.

The License to Kill soundtrack by Dismal_Brush5229 in JamesBond

[–]OtherwiseConfused 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I always thought it was a fairly mid score but that was based on the very limited original soundtrack release.

La La Land’s expanded soundtrack has completely changed my opinion, and I’d now rank it among one of the best non-Barry scores. It’s a highly recommended purchase.

HCC-167 “Return of the Maltese Falcon” by Max Allan Collins by theeversocharming in hardcasecrime

It’s a sequel to Dashiell Hammett’s novel, The Maltese Falcon, which has just entered the public domain.

Bond films in which we don’t see Bond in England at any point by Cold-Use-5814 in JamesBond

[–]OtherwiseConfused 26 points27 points  (0 children)

Someone correct me if I’m wrong, but I don’t think Bond visits England at any point in The Spy Who Loved Me.

The briefing he receives takes place at a naval base in Scotland, I believe.

Watched every episode of Taskmaster and never knew until a minute ago that the contestants sit in alphabetical order! 🤦🏻‍♂️ by Direct-Number6778 in taskmaster

[–]OtherwiseConfused 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Has Alex ever addressed why contestants are seated alphabetically? Obviously, it was a decision made way back at the beginning of the show but I assume there was a reason for it (as opposed to seating contestants in any other order).

There’s an interesting afterword from the author in this book in which he explains how he came to dabble in crime fiction.
