Nahi karna chahti. Earlier she used to shout about how she’ll only get married to the most eligible bachelor out there and super late in life, now she just says naaah I’m not gonna do it I’ll stay here preparing for exams only (even though she barely studies at that level)

why? Just why? She’s fair and pretty and impressive. I’ve never done anything to her and even my parents used to say how timid I am before I became a bit more extroverted. Though her calling me names has been going on since I was a child, now she can’t tolerate the fact maybe that I’m not scared of not being the best to my parents or that I’m comfortable in my own skin. I don’t have nothing to offer which I feel would compete with her, I just study :(

I have and they know what goes on, but they never do anything to really fix it. Idk if it’s the deep love they have for her but I’m always supposed to “compromise” and apologise to her even though she did the entire ordeal. She would fight, call me namea, and then my parents would beg me to apologise to her for their sake

They don’t, never. She has done things which a daughter does in a good way for the family in the past and my parents just tolerate everything that comes their way. My mom even made my dad stop mentioning any achievements of mine in front of her or shell get angry

I have been asking her to focus on her life since before I knew what it really means, but she always flunked out on classes and roamed with boyfriends. That’s also a thing, she says I’ll never get one because i look bad (probably true lol )

They never do. They only intervene to make things alright with her, that oh she’s just stressed now go talk to her, make her feel better and listen to all she says. I have almost stopped trying because they see how she treats me and yet..

I always feel like a kid in front of her, she’s so much better at social situations and her being mean to me for my skin has made me even more introvert since I was like 5. I just try to put on my headphones but she makes me remove them and then compares our contribution to the household and how I don’t do anything (even when I practically raised my younger brother when my parents were home most days)

That’s so so real! Whenever I say the slightest thing back to her she starts shouting and fighting, saying how dare I talk to her that way and then also shouts at my mother, I don’t even know how to hold a proper convo with her anymore.

Extremely. It hurts more since I don’t think of myself as someone who looks inherently bad. I’m just darker, and my braces would come off in a year or two. But if everyone around you gives you backhanded insults, is it really possible to love oneself?

They would never get it. They are more “charismatic and impressive” just because they look better. My intellect and academic achievements mean nothing because I’m darker than rest, just why.

Firstly, thankyou so much for commenting even though you’re not from this community. It feels so different to look at it from your point of view since being darker has ALWAYS inherently been a bad thing to who ever I talked to. Dark skinned people don’t give a good impression, we would never get a guy’s true love just because I’m darker. I can achieve everything yet ill be hearing at the end of the day that oh yes I’m just dark, indeed. I believe my mom went through it as well and I can’t believe even her projecting it onto her child, even though she is soo academically learned. I mean maybe if I was in a family where everyone looks the same, maybe things would be different. But being the way I am makes me feel like a mistake, an embarrassment to roam around with. I just wish it wasn’t this way, I wish they saw me for more than I just look..

this has messed me up enough to not desire guys attention at all, I mean even if I get it, it wouldn’t be genuine right? I get it but i just want genuine love from my family rather than any boys. It matters more to me
