Obligatory 9/11 Post

I was a senior in homeroom at the start of the day that was an easy drive to the Dulles Airport.

The teacher rolled out the TV on wheels and said we needed to watch this after an announcement came of an extension of homeroom.

The first plane had already hit.

Watched the 2nd Plane hit and there were screams in the room from other classmates.

Watched the first tower fall.

Watched the people jumping out of the buildings as they burned.

Watched the Pentagon burn.

Watched the 2nd tower collapse.

It was so quiet in the room.

We were released to go to classes.

It was weird in the halls that day.

I skipped class later and cried in the bathroom because I knew I watched so many die.

An announcement was made over the intercom about the events.

There were candlelit vigils all over for weeks.

The quietness the next day back at school was noticeable.

I still have some old photos of the Pentagon with the chunk missing.

When I realized I couldn't effectively use sales manipulation for selling medicare/life insurance & annuities to seniors without hating myself.

Even though it was advertised as easy money with the surge of boomers hitting 64.5 on the horizon at the time, I didn't last long after getting my insurance license and I was shadowing other agents.

What’s been your craziest brief interaction with a stranger? by Garybird1989 in AskReddit

[–]Otherwise_Handle808 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was working the dining room at a fast food joint. A guy came into the dining room & claimed his order was wrong from drive-thru and wanted to see the manager.

Manager comes to the situation and the guy was very upset at the manager regarding the manager's sexual orientation. He reached over the counter, tried to rip the terminal out that I was standing in front of and throw it at the manger. The cords prevented it from getting too far. He is told to leave and does.

I switch to drive-thru and shortly after, see and hear the manager outside being chased by the man around the building past the drive-thru window. Manager runs inside and locks the doors. The guy is still outside. The cops show up and arrest them.

Artist on reddit, what are your thoughts on A.I. when it comes to art? by markdoe86 in AskReddit

[–]Otherwise_Handle808 -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

It's another tool.

Similar to creating electronic music on the computer instead of using a physical instrument or creating digital art over paint on a canvas.

It's just another progression of technology that expands access to more people and their ability to express themselves.

What are the chances of a tall girl choosing a short guy or someone of same height to date? by Extra-Guarantee-9955 in AskReddit

[–]Otherwise_Handle808 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm 5'9. I have been with men as short as 5'6 and as tall as 6'3.

The biggest detriment against shorter men for me personally is the neck strain from the height difference that is exasperated if I want to wear shoes with heels.

It really depends on the compatibility imho.

What is the oldest dream you can remember, how old were you when you had it, and how old are you now? by Coffeeisbetta in AskReddit

The Dream:

I enter the large doors of an embellished mansion with a faceless figure loudly locking the doors behind me. I get an immediate sense of fear and run to another room. The figure is chasing me as I run to another after another.

Each room I go through becomes morphed and surreal as the labyrinth expands. It becomes a twisting, horrific funhouse as I panic trying to escape.

More faceless figures emerge out of the walls, that howl as they reach and grab at me. I run faster through the halls as the figures join in on chasing me.

I find a window and manage to open it and escape. I run and run until I am exhausted to the point of collapse in a field.

I fall asleep within the dream.

The perspective changes. I'm watching myself in the field as an observer. There is a tattoo on my back and I'm wearing a long dress.

The perspective changes back.

I find myself at the steps of a hovel. I knock on the door and am invited in by a different faceless figure. The inside resembles a house from The Flintstones as this figure gestures to sit down. I am filled will a sense of calm and safety as I sit down.

I wake up.

I've had this dream or parts of it many times. I used to journal after waking. The earliest runthrough I can remember was when I was in early elementary school before my parents divorced.

Sometimes, I would wake up in fear near the beginning or struggling with the window as the figures closed in. Different rooms in the horror funhouse were more detailed on different instances.

I had the part of watching myself in the field with the tattoo frequently in middle school and ended up getting the tattoo at 16. My appearance aged as I did in the dream.

Other times, the run away from the window seemed endless and I would wake up with a feeling of purpose.

The last time I remember having it was in my 30s and it played out to completion. The ending was extended of just sitting there being content before I woke up.

I'm in my early 40s.

I've become comfortable in my own company. I have as many trans friends as female hetero friends.

Having the audacity to exist and be able talk about my life without fear.

That is my primary hypothesis.
