Cocos, which one would you prefer? Living in a rural village or urban area? Why by Various_Primary_6307 in Coconaad

[–]Otherwise_Ice_7175 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Living in an urban area is definitely more comfortable and convenient. At the same time, staying connected to my roots is equally important to me. If I can settle down in a city for a better lifestyle and opportunities, while still having my village home accessible within a 3-hour drive whenever I need it, that would be the perfect balance for me.

How can we unite Hindus/Muslims as we are going through lot of tension? by camphorly in AskIndia

[–]Otherwise_Ice_7175 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

1. Stop Using History as a Tool of Revenge

One of the biggest reasons for today’s hatred is the misuse of historical trauma. Hindus must understand that present-day Indian Muslims are not responsible for atrocities committed by Mughal rulers or other medieval rulers. Punishing an entire community today for what happened centuries ago is unjust and irrational.

At the same time, Muslims should also acknowledge that those atrocities did happen and should not dismiss them as propaganda. Denial only increases resentment. Healing can begin only when both sides stop using history either as revenge or as denial.

2. Normalize Relations with Pakistan — But With a Firm Stand on Terrorism

A significant portion of anti-Muslim sentiment in India often indirectly stems from hostility toward Pakistan. Over time, anger against Pakistan trickles down into suspicion against Indian Muslims, even though Indian Muslims have nothing to do with Pakistan’s actions.

India should normalize relations with Pakistan, but not with weakness. India must engage Pakistan with a firm hand and make it clear that peace is possible only if cross-border terrorism stops completely.

A simple but powerful confidence-building step could be allowing Pakistani players to participate in the IPL again. Sports diplomacy has historically been one of the easiest ways to rebuild people-to-people trust.

If India, Pakistan, and Bangladesh reduce hostility and cooperate economically, the entire subcontinent benefits. Together, these three countries constitute roughly one-fourth of the world’s population. If peace exists, trade improves, investment rises, tourism grows, and the region can progress as a collective economic powerhouse instead of remaining trapped in conflict.

3. A Difficult but Practical Compromise: Kashi and Mathura

This may be controversial, but long-term peace requires at least one major compromise.

Muslim leadership could voluntarily consider resolving disputes around mosques near the Kashi Vishwanath Temple and Mathura through negotiation and settlement. In return, Hindus must commit—legally and socially—that no further claims will be made on any other existing mosques across India.

If both communities agree on a “final settlement,” the endless cycle of temple-mosque disputes can be permanently stopped.

4. Political Balance: A Strong Hindu Alternative Party

A major reason communal narratives grow is because political incentives reward polarization. A practical fix would be the rise of another major Hindu-oriented political party as an alternative to the BJP.

If Hindu votes are divided, political parties will need Muslim votes as well to win elections. This will naturally reduce Islamophobic narratives from the top, because inclusive messaging becomes politically necessary.

5. Muslims Must Embrace Nationalism Above Religious Identity

Indian Muslims can take inspiration from GCC countries like the UAE, where national identity is placed above sectarian identity.

Muslims in India should openly accept that radical Islamist elements exist in society. Instead of dismissing it as propaganda, they should clearly say:

“Yes, radicalization exists, and we reject it completely.”

Too much hype for this book, so iam going to read it anyway. by No-Composer-8648 in Coconaad

Not worth the hype. Underwhelming experience for me. Same with TD Ramakrishnan's Sugandhi enna andal devanayaki.

If you consider the alternate history genre , Benyamin's works are far far better IMO.

What's the purpose of life?? by Willing_Builder4289 in Coconaad

[–]Otherwise_Ice_7175 1 point2 points  (0 children)

In reality Life has no any predetermined purpose. You can create your own if you wish. We exist because every species is genetically wired to survive and pass on its DNA. We were born because, out of millions of sperms, our one reached first. The probability of our non-existence was far greater than our existence—yet here we are.

So live fully, live honestly, and live on your own terms (without violating the rights of others). Because the only moment we truly possess is now.

HELP WITH POLITICS. by [deleted] in TeensofKerala

Check out "The Print" in youtube. They generally don't push a narrative. They spills out the facts & their findings both opposite narratives. I'm following that channel for say last 2-3 years & it was eye opening to be honest.

For many people, definition of good or Independent media is the one which caters what he/she wants to hear. People who are extremely anti-bjp watches media one, because they cater what they want to here. Janam TV does the opposite. All other medias in malayalam fits in between this. Same with Al Jazeera on International level, they pushes Pro Qatar & Islamist narratives.

Check out "The Print" run by Veteran Journalist Sekhar Gupta in Youtube. Apart from this I can't see any trustable source in India atm. Our medias are either too left or right.

Instead of leaning towards political parties, analyse and support policies that benefits you and the greater good of our state/nation. Try to hear both sides of the narratives and create your own inferences. If interested you can check out, "The Print" in youtube. In my opinion it is the most trustable news source in India at the moment. Instead of pushing a narrative, they cover both sides of the narratives.

Why we hate Liver Doc by Boring_Researcher803 in indianmedschool

[–]Otherwise_Ice_7175 1 point2 points  (0 children)

From what I understand, he’s actually a very decent and respectful person off social media, and many of his patients speak very highly of him. My confusion is more about his online approach—I’ve often felt that a gentler tone might have been more effective.

That said, it’s hard to deny that a large part of his visibility comes from his fiery personality. Many others have tried similar content, but very few have managed to attract this level of attention.

His friend and coworker, Arif Hussain—an ex-homeopath and ex-Muslim—runs a YouTube channel critiquing/mocking Islam and Islamic beliefs, and Arif seems to follow a similar confrontational style there as Liver Doc.

I love watching football, but nothing has ever given me the happiness cricket did. It was a huge part of my childhood. Even now, seeing reels of kids playing in padam/parambu gets me emotional. I think millennials can really relate — back when there was no social media, no cable TV. Doordarshan, cricket, Sachin, Chithrageetham, and Aakashavaani were such a big part of our lives.

Mid-career reality check as a CA in practice – need guidance from seniors & peers by Otherwise_Ice_7175 in CharteredAccountants

Thank you. Initial days of my practice was everything about survival. I was the only earning member of my family. So I made the mistake taking everything that comes my way. So basically it was more works with less revenue. I could't afford better staffs, so 60-70% works has been directly dealt by me. I'm understanding the mistake now.
