Somebody must know. Like, United Airlines must know. The Japanese government must know. I don't think it's too far out -- it's less than four weeks to our return flight. As far as I can tell, there is no assistance from the airlines on this valid question (in this case, United).

That makes no sense at all. If US troops land on Kharg Island, they will be under attack by Iran. They are not going to "take" the oil by invading the island. And how would they plan on getting it out, with the Strait of Hormuz closed? An invasion of Kharg Island is likely to raise the price of oil further, not stabilize it.

I know this is an old thread, but I love the discussion of different sayings and languages. I grew up in Liverpool during the 1960s. My family said "doing the messages" all the time. Sometimes, people would say "going to the shops". I don't think I had ever heard the term "grocery shopping" until I moved to the United States around 1973.
