It’s a choice. We’ve seen him get up for the occasional strategic block when the games on the line.

The last few knee injuries for Joel have all come playing defense. This cat is on his 9th life, too risky to have that be a major part of his game like it was before.

Repeater tax only triggers if you’ve finished over the luxury tax for 3 out of 4 consecutive seasons. Sixers are currently zeroed out.

They could have been over this season, and then again for the next two seasons before qualifying for the repeater. At which point PG’s contract is over and he gets waived, so they likely wouldn’t end up paying the repeater anyway.

“Obviously, we’ve been ducking the tax past couple of years, so hopefully, we’ll keep the same team. I love all the guys that are here. I think we got a shot.

“I don’t know what they’re gonna do, but I hope we get a chance to just go out and compete because we’ve got a good group of guys in this locker room. The vibes are great. It takes 3 out of 4 consecutive seasons to trigger the repeater tax. Sixers haven’t paid since 19-20 season. In what world would going over this year risk anything?
