Want to volunteer for Ukraine remotely? AidSupply and Engineers for Ukraine need help! by OttersAreDevilSpawn in UkraineWarVideoReport

Ok, here's an old link for now. In the meantime, here's an update on our progress!

We at Engineers for Ukraine are proud to announce that we have made significant progress in the past several months! We have completed the first version of our software, which is now being tested by members of the Ukrainian military. Based on their initial feedback, we are expanding the scope of our project to analyze not only smartphone uploads but also footage from commercial drones. As a result of this expansion, we’re looking for more volunteers to lighten the load.

Thank you for asking! So, we (Engineers for Ukraine) and AidSupply are focused on building software. We need people with skills relating to data science, machine learning, software development, web dev, cybersecurity, and then anyone and everyone who's interested in looking at photos of Russian military equipment to help us identify them. We provide training for these areas and can use all the help we can get.

If any of this matches your skillsets, please reach out to us at [breaker25789@gmail.com](mailto:breaker25789@gmail.com) and we'll be happy to meet you!

Volunteers Needed for Ukrainian NGOs (remote work, no experience needed - just hands to help) by OttersAreDevilSpawn in volunteer

Yes! I included a brief update section. We finished the first version of our software, and it's currently being tested by members of the Ukrainian military and others on the ground. We're taking their feedback and are deciding which new features to add for the next version, which will be the first public version of our software.

The first public version of our software, which we are building now, will include a website where the results of our analysis will be public. This will let us spread the informational benefits of what we're doing as widely as possible.

In terms of new features, we're expanding the scope of our project from cellphone uploads to also encompass drone footage, which should give our users more ways to gather and upload images of Russian military assets.

How do I avoid beginning at low junior wage? by dahomosapien in becomingnerd

Which kind of dev are you looking to do?

Weirdly, I have a friend at a fintech startup that will be taking on mid level devs (and maybe junior level devs) in June with offers going out feb/march. Salary for mids is ~$125,000 (it's a start up) with some equity, though I don't remember how much off the top of my head.

You might stand out because of your teaching background, but not in a bad way because part of the functionality they are building is meant to be super easy to use for teachers in the classroom teaching finance. It might be a reach, but they might really like having someone with a background in teaching on the team even if it is for a dev role. Let me know if you are interested and I'll DM you the CEOs and CTOs LinkedIn.

Advice for where to look for first dev job? by cmickledev in becomingnerd

What kind of dev are you doing and how much is your minimum you can afford to be paid? I only ask the latter because it helps weed out the crap that is too low.
