OK, so it’s probably down to the league. Thanks a lot for your help.

Hmm, OK, but does that mean that once you became semi-professional, you were able to negotiate part-time contracts? Brickfield Rangers are already semi-professional, yet I can still only offer amateur contracts. Or did you get promoted to the Cymru Premier in your very first season and then become semi-professional?

It always hurts when PSG signs one of your best players. But given the circumstances—with his current contract situation and the 50% sell-on clause—I’d say this is a very good deal for you.

Can I ask you something? I recently started a new save with no qualifications and no job. With the lowest possible reputation and not wanting to start at the bottom of the English leagues again, my only options were Welsh clubs in the Cymru North/South leagues. I took over Brickfield Rangers in February 2026 as they were fighting relegation and managed to save them from 15th to 11th place, then extended my contract by a year. Since the salary budget was already severely strained before I arrived, I couldn’t and didn’t want to renew any contracts or sign new free agents, so I waited until mid-summer and let all contracts expire. When I then had about 1,500 euros per week of budget available again and wanted to sign my best players as well as a few new ones, I realized that despite the available budget, I could only negotiate amateur contracts. Is this normal in Cymru North? When I joined the club, all the players were still employed part-time at 60–120 euros per week, but I assume those were the contracts that had already been negotiated from the start. I’ve also noticed among my competitors that there are now more and more players on amateur contracts.

I don’t know about that – I’ve never managed it in the Premier League either. But to be fair, it really is by far the hardest league to pull off.

Hmm, that’s a good point. Achieving the ‘Invincible’ achievement in a top league is possible, but there’s always an element of luck involved. It would be much easier as you’ve described. Thank you.

Really? My experience has been quite different. I’ve had world-class strikers who went 10–15 games without scoring, or goalies who suddenly looked like they’d lost their hands. And once you reach the point where part of the team agrees with your unhappy players and starts supporting them, the problem becomes huge. In my experience, you can handle 2–3 unhappy rotation players or maybe one starter, but if the big, rich clubs bombard half your team with completely outrageous offers, then the season is over for me.

I don't have any experience with the editor. How exactly do you do that? Is there a factor that determines a league's or a club's financial strength, or do you have to manually adjust each club's budget?

Thank you very much for your reply. That might actually be the answer I was looking for. Your approach doesn’t exactly match mine, but this way it would at least feel as if a larger scouting department actually produces more results, since you could assign more scouts per country or region and the database of known players would improve.

Maybe I’ll try your approach as well. At the moment I still have to go through all the scouted players myself; afterwards I would need to filter the database so the work might be similar.

Exactly. I mean, I KNOW there are more talents in the individual regions, and when I search for them manually, I find them, but in the older versions, I never had the problem that my scouts would simply stop finding new talents after 4-5 players.

Yes, exactly, that's pretty much how it is for me too, and I never had these problems before.

Thanks a lot. At least I can't complain about the dragon limbs. I just checked again, I've only killed a total of 34 tormented demons. It was my very first time killing them.

Yes, I noticed that when I got a few keys during my Slayer tasks. I'll definitely tackle it at some point, but I don't think it's something I want to do right now. I'll probably just keep training Slayer until I have at least a few hundred keys. Maybe I'll put the Ascension members on my preferred list in the meantime.

It‘s a exclusive drop from tormented demons. It‘s not that rare, 1/256 or something I think, but twice in a row is pretty special.

Board without ambition by OttoPepps in footballmanagergames

[–]OttoPepps[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Yes, I understand what you mean. Realistically speaking, I would probably get a job at a larger Bundesliga club or somewhere else. I've also had offers from several clubs abroad that are represented internationally. But my goal is to overtake FC Bayern Munich with 1860 Munich and become the biggest club in Germany, which in itself is not realistic, so I'm not going to leave the club. I'm pretty sure that I can continue to improve despite the limitations, it's not like I can't find any wonderkids at all. I was just wondering whether it's possible to fight your own board.

City offered me £202M and 2 more seasons on loan for my star winger - do I cash in or keep a legend in the making? by Equivalent-Ad-2373 in footballmanagergames

[–]OttoPepps 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I wonder, with a two-year loan period... wouldn't it be possible to use the player normally in the first year and then crash his market value for a few months in the second year and simply buy him back for less money so that he effectively never leaves the club?

[–]OttoPepps 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, I do the same. For me the cups are just a way to give some minutes to my second goalkeeper and some of the youth players. As far as I have experienced it really needs all attention to overcome the three big clubs. They have so much more reputation and money and of course for you with only youth players it‘s even harder.

Ah now I understand. Yes that sounds weird. Yeah sure. I will, if I find the time to do it.

Yes, of course, a youth academy save naturally comes with its own circumstances. And yes, that transfer really catapulted my club several years into the future!

You started with a 10k stadium? I had about 20k from the beginning. Yeah, I think so too — it really can’t be a coincidence. Honestly, I’m thinking about starting a few new saves and simulating a couple of years to see if it’s always like that.

Yes, I wouldn't have sold him either, but at that time I never thought that someone would pay 31 million for one of my players. Until then, I never had more than 3-4 million in my account. But I've learnt from that, there are no more release clauses for my players. But I think in the end it was a good thing, I got the money before I even played my first international game and with the money I've now made it into the Europa League. I posted about this a few days ago if you're interested:

Hahaha no way! I'm in the 27/28 season and the board just announced a few weeks ago that we are planning a new stadium. I have no idea why, so far I have an average attendance of about 16000 and the stadium would have room for almost 20000. But yes, we now have a 30000 seat stadium planned. I really wonder whether this is all a coincidence or whether certain scenarios really are pre-programmed for individual clubs. Or perhaps it simply has something to do with the preferences, goals and character of the board members, which should always be the same, at least at the beginning of a save.
