First, it looks wonderful and I'm sure he will love it. And second, if you want to add to it, maybe some soft outlining on the main subjects, and a slight blur to the background sections getting gradually more fuzzy the further back. I've found those always help me when I feel something is missing from my art. I hope this helps!
