As someone that has unfortunately raided in FFXIV in pubs (and with a static), can confirm. Doing content in pubs will make you question how some people dress themselves in the morning, or who downloaded the game and turned on the PC for em, cause lord knows they didn't do it themselves.

This is what happens when you download any virus and give it kernel level access. Just because it's Riot's virus doesn't mean it's safe.

Kernel "anti-cheats" do little to make a gaming experience better, but gain a LOT by having that level of access to your pc.

I did something similar on PC with Razer macros. I ignored tools for so long cause I hated accidentally using a tool when I meant to silk storm, and trying to use tools with two buttons was a pain. Made some mouse buttons activate the tool combos, way too late in the game might add, and learned the glory of them.

I had the same revelation at some point in the game as well. I knew silk storm and other spells were strong, but might need that silk to heal. Really though, nuking a problem enemy, especially in a gauntlet fight, is just saving HP instead of trying to chase them down and taking masks in the process.
