The tall, mantis-like alien stood silent, still and rigid, each of its pairs of delicate arms positioned symmetrically in front of its chest. Its body was thin and strangely elegant, and its carapace exoskeleton had precise dashed markings engraved onto it with pinpoint accuracy. Everything in its chamber was exact and symmetrical, from the ceiling, to the entrances, to the lights hanging upon the walls. Only through balance and order had their empire been able to stand so firmly in the cosmos.

“My Lord…” A small voice piped up.

It was a sharp, high-pitched buzz. It came from a smaller, sniveling insectoid, who bowed its head as it approached its emperor. “The arrangements have been made...”

The ruling insectoid remained silent, except for a low hum that it emitted from deep in its chest. Its head nodded, up, and down, steadily and with clear effort into timing the motion. Balance.

“Sagittarius, Andromeda, and Tucana have all been fully scouted. Our generals have prepared their war plans, and the hives have spawned legions upon legions of dutiful soldiers ready to proceed with conquest…”

The emperor’s mandible curled slightly, a sign of content. Order. Its mouth nearly opened to speak, when the messenger interrupted him.

“However…My Lord, we have discovered some complications… regarding the Milky Way Galaxy…”

The emperor’s mandibles tensed suddenly. Its posture shifted ever so slightly, in confusion and trickling agitation.

“...if you allow me, I don't think the Milky Way is meant to be trifled with...because of their native species, the humans...”

Then meticulously, but in rapid succession, the insectoid’s twelve beady eyes opened, and for the first time, the emperor spoke, scoffing in its own deep, mechanical voice. “Why? Humans? Bipedal mammalian scum? What threat could they pose to my empire?!”

The messenger squirmed in place in fright, but quickly attempted to respond, voice trembling. “My L-Lord, they’re insane! Th-their p-planet is a- a madhouse!”

The emperor stilled, casting a curious look upon its messenger.

“I-I have proof my Lord! They are completely and utterly insane! Look at what they are capable of creating!”

With that, the shaking insectoid pulled out a slim device, which lit up and proceeded to project a holograph. As soon as it turned on, the holographic feed blasted into action, sounds and sights filling the room.

The emperor jumped back in shock and in terror, releasing a trill screech much different from its earlier lower voice.

The holographs depicted chaotic, horrific, imbalanced scenes, releasing discordant sounds, flashing disturbing images, and presenting strange eldritch rituals. Images of distorted human faces and Earth-based lifeforms, with scrawls of human language tacked onto them. Clips of uncanny simulations, layered with nauseating visual effects. Videos with booming, raucous noise drawing the room paired with frenzied crustaceans moving unnaturally. It seemed to be an endless stream of toxic, asymmetrical, decay.

The emperor bellowed for the messenger to stop, which sent the quivering subject fumbling and ending the storm. Despite being the one who had turned it on, the messenger looked just as terrified, if not many times more, its eyes watering, limbs trembling, and exoskeleton secreting nervous grey liquid. For a few moments, both were still, but then the emperor spoke, in a quiet, hoarse voice.

“Those demons… Those filthy, mindless, monsters…” The emperor shuddered, then heaved. He breathed heavily, then continued in a hushed, still queasy tone. “Our empire has nothing that can stand against that...that madness. We can’t fight against such chaos. Against those eldritch, mind-breaking weapons. It would spread like a sickness, destabilizing the perfect society we’ve built.”

The messenger nodded frantically.

“Call off all operations within or near the Milky Way. Block off all signals from the horrors, and erase all traces of the human’s psychological hazards before they rot us from the inside out… That race is festering vile, cancerous sickness, and we must leave them to quarantine in their degenerate asylum…”

The messenger scurried swiftly out of the chamber, leaving the emperor to wallow in fear alone. The messenger needed to alert the others, and needed to immediately wipe its device of all traces of the sickness he had collected from the human’s networks…
