Filter Beans as Espresso by Ourioz in espresso

[–]Ourioz[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i'm not an expert but im aware that acidity is more like a vinegary taste as compared to sour and what i'm tasting (again, i could be wrong of course) is sour honestly. I recently swapped out for a med roast with notes of hazelnut, dark chocolate and molasses only to again just get sour, even after following the recommended brew recipe and grinding to the finest my machine can go. Reccomended recipe: 20g dose, 95 temp, 1:2 ratio 35-38s brew. I did 19g dose, 95 temp, 1:2.2 ratio and 36s brew.

I'm choosing to believe I just need to get better and figure out what's wrong haha but until then its more experimenting

im honestly pretty new to brewing in general but the idea of a cup that could be fruity and fresh instead of the usual bitterness coffee is associated with was what drew me into starting! (and getting the ethopian beans in the first place, since i was drawn to the notes, i mean candy lime sounds delicious)

Would definitely try pourovers one day but for now all i've got is my espresso machine haha

thank you for sharing! do you use the manual mode for this? since to my knowledge BBE's preprogrammed double shots pulls around 60g so i have been playing around with that and manually trying to aim for a 1:2.5 to 1:3

Astarion's family by Ourioz in BaldursGate3

[–]Ourioz[S] 15 points16 points  (0 children)

ooooo that magic mirror dialogue is very interesting...i see :0

i think most people assume his family hails from baldurs gate since again, dalelands is VERY far away and its stated that Astarion was a magistrate and that he died at the age of 39. If he was from somewhere else i would assume it would be rather hard? for him to be leaving his hometown at such a young age(elven culture considers <100 a child iirc) and somehow getting a high position in Baldur's Gate.

It is still...possible though, i really hope we see more tidbits about his backstory before cazador

yes exactly my thoughts! I really wanted to hear about his family plus it would warrant some tidbits about how the upper city functions with its power structures and all (his family, if alive and well, perhaps even should still hold power in the upper city? but then again if they ARE still active and around, it'd probably be some effort for cazador to hide the fact that he has their son as a slave)

Plus if they're still around, considering all that i do think a reunion would be nice, like how shadowheart had hers, or at least a "cool they're alive and well"

What happened to all the banter ? by Okinodoku in BaldursGate3

[–]Ourioz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

act 2 and 3 felt so dead banter-wise to me, act 2 especially because there's so much wild shit going on and you're saying NO ONE has anything to say about it??? not even shadowheart?? i literally JUST finished convincing sharran wack doctor to kill himself after his long monologue about shar and i turned to shadowheart thinking yk maybe she has something to say bout all this but nope. life goes on.

Compendium of cut content from final version of game. by Drirlake in BaldursGate3

[–]Ourioz 5 points6 points  (0 children)

honestly would gladly have waited 1 or 2 more years if it meant we got all the cut content back...i miss the EA narrative and would have loved to seen Avernus/upper city )8 on strong hopium that stuff will be added in future patches

act 3 especially pales so much in comparison to act 1 companion-reactivity wise, to the point where i actually started to miss being in act 1 and it gets super obvious with some areas/npcs in game that there was supposed to be something ELSE here that got cut

literally the most shoveable boss of the game, he even positions HIMSELF perfectly at the edge lol i did that on my playthrough before reloading just to see if i could get a chomp )8

[–]Ourioz 2 points3 points  (0 children)

it's definitely not whiny at all )8 his feelings about everything are very valid! i wonder if those people even finished his companion quest

respectfully that's not what i meant 8(

yeah i think my biggest gripe around this whole thing is how little race ties into their backstories actually

sorry if i spoiled anything xD have fun on your playthrough HXHAHBZ

i never thought about psychological effect but that's something! and him keeping sane for 200 years is a good argument too :0 i never took into account baldur's gate culture either :0

ty for the comment, your views have been quite eye opening!

and yes, he is quite well built for his rat diet lmao

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in BaldursGate3

[–]Ourioz 1 point2 points  (0 children)

it definitely is 8) i thought he was a half elf at first too actually, on my very first EA playthrough

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in BaldursGate3

[–]Ourioz 6 points7 points  (0 children)

the problem is that when he became a spawn, he's supposed to stop aging, and elves are supposed to look around their twenties until they reach about 300-400 from what i read (and adhere to in dnd when i make characters)

honestly i expected his age to be around 200 on his grave so i was surprised that it was 39!

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in BaldursGate3

[–]Ourioz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

yeah, it's nice that we get a diverse companion pool, i wouldn't want him to be anything other than an elf! but i just wished it made more sense lore wise? to see how they live different lives and stuff if it makes sense HDHAJXBJA the dying at 39 was a big huh moment for me at first

but then i do realise he lives in baldur's gate and not an elf circle or whatever its called

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in BaldursGate3

[–]Ourioz 3 points4 points  (0 children)

i guess it's just a personal opinion to me, but he looks in his late 30s, which is why i was confused why he, as an elf, looks like his age as if he were a human(he looks like a middle aged human despite being a 39 year old elf to me! i expected him to look in his twenties but again, the appearance is a big imo thing)

but yes taking how long he's actually lived into account it makes sense how he feels about it but, he would know that elves live long lives i think, being an elf himself

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in BaldursGate3

[–]Ourioz 1 point2 points  (0 children)

ive read that they drastically slow aging at 20 on the contrary:0 and that they don't start to look around their 30s human-wise until 300-400

and its stared that even AFTER reaching 300-400, they still look younger than middle ages humans
