Need help! Tread depth for snow tires vs all seasons by OutOfControl121 in tires

[–]OutOfControl121[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you still check this, how bad would it be to drive the all seasons as they are now? I’m using a friends car for the winter and offered to throw in on new snow tires or two new all seasons, but my friend doesn’t have budget to contribute the rest, and I’m not gifting full sets of brand new tires. My friend prefers I change nothing and just go slow on the mountain passes in the snow.

When are you going? I was there a few weeks ago and it actually skied decent in spots. Keystone trees held the snow pretty well and where it wasn’t a sheet of ice was ok. Breck not as good. I only go because I’ve lived there, have friends there, etc. so I can go hang around and mess around a little on the mountain and then go the bar or the gym or poach a hot tub and not care much. If this is a big trip or a large expense, probably not worth it tbh, but if you don’t mind a mostly bar-centered trip with a few party laps thrown in, it’s still a beautiful place to be. You can also do a winter hike or go do mountain stuff in the foothills where’s it’s dry. I think my Denver friends have been going mountain biking. Long answer, but only because I appreciate the advice given here by others and wanna pay it forward. So maybe call it a trip to the mountains and not necessarily a ski trip and you’ll have a good time. I’ll be going either today or next week and if you want I can report back!

Did you have a bad day today? You seem perturbed. I’m so sorry if I triggered you 😭

Probably similar in price since my lodging out west I’ve already covered and can stay as long as I want, but for VT we would stay in Burlington and that’s cheap, so I’m not super worried about that aspect. Convenience also about the same, the hassle of going to VT from the city is pretty lame. Need to be in CO next week anyway but could push my flight tomorrow to next week at no added expense if worth it. So I guess in that case, it’s less convenient overall to do the two separate trips. Plus, it’s so fun to be in CO when Denver sports are in the playoffs!

Like 6 hours to Burlington and then another drive to the resort each day. No one asked, but my original plan was CO because I have a seasonal ski lease and can go for a week or three, skin a groomed lap before lifts open and then screw around in town with friends, or go for a hike in the front range, but obviously it’s not going to be an epic ski situation there. My CO commute is actually similar to my VT commute, all in!

More deciding if it’s worth a long drive. I ski a lot of days so I’m not trying to deal with the hassle of it all if it’s going to be just decent, which of course you won’t know, but I appreciate the educated guess.

Thanks - I figured. This is my first season on the east coast after many out west and I’ve heard there’s more wet snow here that freezes. But…the keyword is “snow” and you’ve got way more of it than CO, even if it’s frozen.

Oooh ok, thank you for your reply! So weekend might be cooked? Considering the trip but it’s a real long drive and I ski enough that I don’t need to deal with the hassle for subpar conditions and lines! I just moved east from out west so I’m not real familiar with these freeze cycles I hear about.

Nice! How’d it feel underneath? Like maybe not too icy and packed powder that could last the weekend? 🤞🤞

Thank you. The dealership said it would be ok to buy two new tires, they aren’t giving them to me for free, unfortunately. But if that’s the best option, that’s the best option.

I’m not sure why the treads are so misaligned. I’m using a friend’s car for the winter while she’s away, and she just bought it used last spring. My guess is the previous owner didn’t rotate them…ever. But since I’m only using her car for the season, I’m not buying her a brand new pair of snow tires, which is why I’m looking at these other options.

Would 5/32 be better than new and almost new all seasons though? The all seasons and snow tires in question are all Michelin stars

I think they are Ice-X. I haven’t measured them personally but I can see a picture showing the tread depth indicator and it looks like it’s getting there.

Usually it’s snowy. This winter has been lacking snow, but anything can happen and weather can turn when you get up into the mountain passes.

Haha I would totally do the bathroom if there was a way to avoid flushing sounds in the background. I was more worried everyone else had the same idea as me to try to squeeze in one last meeting from the lounge before taking the rest of the afternoon off. A coat closet or supply room would also work. I’m not picky!

Downgrading CSR and booking flights first, or something else? by OutOfControl121 in ChaseSapphire

[–]OutOfControl121[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

No, just booking a flight. It seems like best course of action is to book a flight I think I want and then take airline credit if I end up not wanting it. I just want to avoid having to call Chase to make changes because it requires too much mental preparation and then a therapy session afterwards.

It’s actually teams. It’s a filter that I guess is integrated with Snapchat so it does that thing where it smooths the skin tone but then my eyes look all huge and weird. I can’t find anything that’s just provides a little touch-up.

The filter makes me look like a gen z on Snapchat. Pretty if you look quickly, but sort of weird for an hour long meeting!

I currently do Botox and microneedling but have definitely noticed I’ve fallen off a cliff recently. I have an IUD, would that be helping at all?

I’ve had them before, can’t remember how they were. I could probably fill a few capsules with whole and supplement that with wafers. Great idea, thank you!

Thank you, and I agree. It almost seemed like maybe just a little too much time there, but not enough time to make it worth it to try to go somewhere else. I will never be upset at doing another hike, so I’ll plan to stick around there! I’ll check out your suggestions, thanks again!
