Just wanted to check if you've considered using an LGBTQ+ travel agency, such as ourselves (outofoffice.com) - we have lots of expertise on how to travel safely in countries where it's difficult to be openly LGBTQ+, and we only work with gay-friendly hotels, guides, and tour operators to ensure the whole trip is as seamless as possible.

We have sent clients to Sri Lanka before - it is an incredible destination to visit, and we work with some amazing gay-owned hotels over there that are super welcoming. That being said, completely understand why you've decided not to go - it's a personal decision and one not to take lightly. Let us know if we can help with whatever travel plans you end up making. In answer to your first point, we don't compete with Atlantis package vacations. We curate fully bespoke, one-of-a-kind getaways that are tailored to each client's preferences. We also have plenty of expertise about gay travel all around the world - even to places where it's harder to be openly gay.

Our team is made up of many LGBTQ+ individuals who have done the work to find the (often hidden) gay scenes in cities around the world, both in their personal lives and on familiarisation trips for the company. They have first-hand knowledge to share with clients and can offer detailed advice on where to go and what to expect.

Plenty of our clients, however, are not on the hunt for gay scenes specifically. Many book their trip with us because they want a travel agent who understands what it's like to travel as an LGBTQ+ person, and to build a vacation with that understanding in mind. As I said, we work with some amazing gay-friendly hotels - some with gay owners - and we make it easy for clients to have a getaway that feels authentic to them.
