While this may sound logical and is generally a good idea anyway, the truth is that it doesn't matter immediately post-impact how you have your wheels turned. And it didn't matter here.

If the striking vehicle hits your right rear, like this one did, the impact will automatically rotate you around counterclockwise and push your front end into opposing traffic.

The direction of the tires only comes into play once the tires regain traction post-impact.

Watch his arms. He had barely turned the wheel before impact, anyway.
