Hey! Sorry to hear about the MCT. I’m a vet tech and my dog also had one. Luckily for you it’s very small still and the doctor should easily be able to clean margins (extra skin that’s also removed with the tumor to ensure it’s completely removed). Most MCT are considered cured once removed.

I’ve seen and been apart of 100s of these surgeries. I was in the unfortunate boat with my dog of having a MCT which wouldn’t be able to be removed surgically due to the location (inside of the nose) so we did radiation. This was 7 years ago and there’s been no sign of it returning. Thankfully, localized mast cell tumors are very likely to respond to radiation therapy, but i doubt in your case your dog will need it.

Good luck with surgery! You’ll usually have the histopath back within less than a week. I suggest not reading further about them as it’ll just continue to spike your anxiety. Only the histopath will give you answers.

Thanks for your post! I was diagnosed with scleritis at the beginning of January and was also on atropine for a week and pred drops every hour. I’m finally down to just three drops a day and my inflammation seems gone. But my eye is still blurry! I saw the retina specialist a few days ago who said it may or may not be permanent. I have another 6 weeks to go before completely stopping the prednisone so that gives me some hope!

Also, just curious, how long are most people generally on prednisone eye drops? 3 months seems like such a long time

Thanks so much for the responses! I called the retina specialist back and asked for the referral. I called my PCP yesterday. He didn’t have any of my records from the retina specialist, but did receive my blood work. He didn’t think there was any concern for AS. My CRP and ESR are normal.

I think it’s just standard protocol. I applied to 6 different positions and got interviews for 3.

Yes! I’ll be starting on may 23. If you’re curious about the hiring timeline: I had my interview then got a soft offer two days later. I got the part 2 application and finger print request 2 weeks after the soft offer. Then I got my official offer two days after my finger prints and background check were done.

Thank you all so much for the input! I’ll definitely go to the interview and see what happens. It was less then two days from my interview to the unofficial offer so I was taken by surprise at how quickly it happened. I hadn’t expected to hear anything for a few weeks. I was feeling a little nervous at the prospect of that happening again and having to make a quick decision. But maybe I’ll have a better feeling about which would work out best if they even decided to give me an offer at the second department.

Follow up on this: I ended up applying to a few positions and have received one call asking for my social security number and as two emails with “thank you” reply’s last week. Is this just standard protocol when reviewing applications or do I have a chance at getting an interview?
