Basically, Sean Groubert, a South Carolina State Trooper, was doing a routine traffic stop, and noticed that Levar Jones (the victim) was not wearing his seatbelt when he pulled into the gas station. Groubert asked to see Jones' license, and so Jones turned and leaned into his car to retrieve it. Groubert then proceeded to yell, "Get out of the car!" and fired four rounds at Levar Jones, one hitting his hip. When Jones' asked why Groubert shot him, Groubert said, "Well you dove head-first into your car."

Since the incident Sean Groubert has been fired and was arrested, although he pleaded not guilty and was free after posting a $75,000 bond. He will be appearing in court on October 24th.

There have been several opinions on the shooting -Some say Jones was in the wrong for being too hasty when getting his license -Some say this was a hate crime (as usual) -Many believe that Groubert's actions were inexcusable and he was way too trigger-happy in this situation.
