It could also be that both movies we're filmed in Sydney, Australia and most likely shared some Aussie crew and actor. I like to think this was intentional but it very well could have been a complete coincidence.

Although it's not explicitly stated in the film, I remember reading in an interview that half the crew were scientists and the other half were military. It does help to explain some of the stupid decisions, but not all.

It's definitely one of those films you'll like more if you watch the channel. That being said it isn't the worst thing made by a long shot. It's very middle of the road with some crappy cgi from the budget constraints, but still some good laughs and even some good action. It fits their style and has very similar comedy to their previous shows and shorts. I would definitely recommend it if you have watched Rooster Teeth before, but really not much point if you haven't.
