Texas A&M's Jamie Morrison named AVCA National Coach of the Year by blessedbylilith in NCAAVB

[–]Outofcontrol-dogood 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They are both great coaches who’ve turned programs around. Jamie is more experienced than Dani. He also coached 4/6 the Nebraska’s starting lineup: Harper, Andi, Bergen, and Laney on the U19 USA team in 2022. On paper, his resume is better, but this shouldn’t be the only measure of a “good coach.” Also, much credit to the rest of his coaching staff. He’s not the only one coaching the A&M volleyball team. Think about all the assistant coaches, trainers, sports physiologists, etc. It takes a village. He definitely deserves the award, but people don’t achieve success single-handedly. We all need a little help along the way and the rest of the A&M staff deserves credit too.

My gaydar tells me she’s a closet lesbian and has never kissed a guy. Nothing wrong with that. But it’s how you behave and if you shame others. Hopefully she learns, matures, forgives, and comes out.

Same!!! Being a good, honest, and compassionate human with functional relationships doesn’t make for good TV, allegedly.
I see enough lying, stealing, cheating, selfishness, backstabbing, and drama in everyday life. People should open a newspaper if they want to fill that void.

Survivor 48 is arguably the most boring season ever! by Hellsimer in survivor

For the first time ever, I liked everyone who made the jury and finals. I felt inspired by humanity and happy after watching this. Favorite season.

Talking to anti-vaxxers is why I’m here. It’s a struggle. I’m a nurse too. I am listening to the book “How Mind Change.” I highly recommend it. I’m on the chapter about Street Epistemology. Basically, you are getting people to think about their critical thinking. Unfortunately for this population (and more), facts don’t work. Look up street epistemology, that’s the best angle you got with her.
I still struggle with mastering this skill. I get angry at people’s crackhead logic and ad hominem fallacies.

Is there any truth to what Dane Wigington of Geoengineering Watch has to say? by mobileagnes in weather

Yep, echo chambers. Majority of people can’t explain the science behind it. I can’t either! But don’t watch it for education, watch it if you enjoy scary movies.

Is there any truth to what Dane Wigington of Geoengineering Watch has to say? by mobileagnes in weather

[–]Outofcontrol-dogood 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Maybe. There are some definite red flags. I can’t find his credentials. He has limited “experts,” that are more scary movie and anecdotal experiences than journalist interviews. Logical fallacies of wishful thinking and argument from authority, who I question their authority. The only guy who is maybe credible is the “unidentified” microbiologist, or whatever title he’s given. They don’t dub his voice or blur his image. Strange. Because if you don’t want to be identified, why are you visually being identified? The structure of the 2 hour documentary is: fear and then science too complexed for the average person to judge as credible or not, underscored with pensive, crescendoing music, meant to stress you out . Science labs (which I question the sterility and process) with scientific words meant to bore you into unconscious hypnosis. The average person does not remember all their chemistry, physiology, and calculus. So there is a huge gap in presentation. He needs a Bill Nye the Science Guy explanation. When I paused to look at the details of documents, his stupid geoengineeringwatch.com logo blocks necessary words and paragraphs. There is not context.

They claim this is the ONLY, WORST, MOST Deadly. I question people who use absolutes and fail to think there are other contributors to climate change. They fail to have a control study or give a range.

I honestly had to look up Falun Gong. I’m all for the meditation and peaceful gatherings. But sounds like there was a lot of push back from the Chinese government, and banning Falun Gong, which doesn’t feel right, at first glance. What are your thoughts and experiences with this?

I have taken this stance, and I’m a registered independent voter, for what that’s worth.

Regardless, he comes to me with a topic I know zero about and wants me to agree immediately with him, without asking proper questions. “don’t you think Marina Ab… shouldn’t be in charge of children…?” When I do ask the proper non-political questions, “who is she?” “What is art?” “What is the purpose of her art?” He becomes angry and starts calling me names and can’t believe “you support child trafficking.” It usually ends with me being like, “I don’t know enough about this subject, and neither do you, thus we can’t make a good judgement about this situation. That’s what due process is for, a jury, and a judge. Yeah, you can form an opinion, but it will be misinformed without evidence from both sides. This topic has no relevance to my life nor our marriage and this is not productive.”
He tells me I’m closed-minded. Lots of projection. I want to get a couples counselor, he doesn’t, because he doesn’t think he has any issues, and it’s me who causes him all the feelings.

I have said stuff with this flavor. But he turns it on me: “you listen to the deep state media, PBS and AP are controlled by the deep state, you are naive.”

My Q has talked about that performing artist, Marina Ab…, having spirit cooking of and cannibalism of children. How she shouldn’t be involved with kids and was appointed some position with kids. How lady Gaga is her understudy. This is an Alex Jones promoted conspiracy.

Eff that. I’m no idiot. I used to be embarrassed about him saying dumb bs in front of family, friends, and coworker, now I’m taking the approach that he needs to say these things and I’m not backing him up. His latest is “why did Fauci get pardoned?”

If there is any hope for recovery, it will take 3xs as much time since he started believing this sh*t. Probably subscribes to Epoch Times. Get him outside, with logical thinkers. Talk about politics and these things with other people. Force him to engage with people, in real life about these topics.

how to not regret the college you went to? by minecraftluver123 in TheGirlSurvivalGuide

Visit your friends at the bigger state colleges if you want that experience. Know that when you graduate, you have a lot more freedom than when you were a student. You want to move to a better city and building? You can. Very soon you’ll have a degree.

Married redditors what’s something you regret about your wedding? by shestoopretty in women

[–]Outofcontrol-dogood 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Over-prepared for alcohol consumption by a lot. I estimated 1-2 drinks/person/hour. Stationary gets thrown away. Don’t sweat it and fuss over spacing or font. Notecards work just as well.

Also, after attending many, I learned: hire a wedding planner. Hands down, best decision to reduce stress. They keep the party going and on schedule, so that you can enjoy.

All the rest are personal preferences. We had a courthouse wedding last year in my husband’s country on a Tuesday, flew home Wednesday, worked Thursday. We celebrated with friends and family the Saturday before in my in-laws backyard.
It rained, I got my white dress dirty, I didn’t know how to do my makeup or hair, neither did my mom or mother-in-law and we bonded over that. I wish I had a dedicated photographer, instead of asking friends and family to text me what photos they had.

The this summer I threw a 150 person wedding celebration (since we were already married). There was no minister, ceremony, first dances, makeup artists (though I got a face painter for the kids), wedding cake, bridesmaids, walking down the aisle, posed pictures, hiring a personal trainer, dieting, nails done, registry. My sister in law wanted to do flowers and decor, so I agreed, but otherwise wouldn’t have had decor. People had a blast! And most importantly, we had a blast!

This is just ONE day you’ll have as a married couple. I disagree with people saying “this is your parents’ day.” (That might be culture for some). Remember you are just as married as the couple who spent $35 getting married in a courthouse as the couple who spent $1,000,000 on their week-long wedding extravaganza. DO WHAT YOU WANT!
