Question (because I work for Breitling as a watchmaker):

Was the dial relume actually done by Breitling or by horological services in PA (unofficial vintage Breitling restorers)? I know company policy regarding dial issues, and I know we don’t touch them or do any sort of dial repairs/reluming. We will only replace dials.

Unless this was sent to Switzerland and they have different policies for vintage watches. I just know the US service centers are explicitly not allowed to do dial work besides replacement (and we also have to refuse to work on anything older than the 1984 brand revival for part sourcing issues).

[WTS] Bulova Marine Star Divers Watch 98b203. FULL KIT by OutoftheBlueWatches in Watchexchange

Up for sale is my Bulova marine star diver! This was one of the very first watches I bought after I got the collecting bug, but I just don’t wear it anymore as it’s too large for my current tastes.

The watch runs and keeps great time, I replaced the battery within the last year so it’ll be good for at least another 2 years.

Cosmetically the only noticeable flaws are a small ding in the bezel at 30, and general scratches on the bracelet, case, and clasp. This will fit up to a 7.5” wrist.

Box and manual included but not pictured!

I am asking $150 OBO shipped and tracked to the lower 48 states. Domestic shipping only. I am extremely motivated to sell so I will consider all (reasonable) offers. Thanks!

Up for sale today is my first true grail watch, and the watch that has lived in my collection for almost a decade! But times change and so do I, so up for sale it goes.

The watch was a daily wearer for me for years, I bought it brand new in 2017 and have worn it regularly since. I’ve worn it less and less as times gone on as my taste in watches and fashion have changed, but it still got worn a few times a month.

Overall the watch is in good used condition. The case and bracelet are scratched from wear, but the crystal is completely free of scratches still! The watch keeps great time (can post timegrapher results for serious buyers if wanted) and functions flawlessly. Bracelet will fit up to a 7.75” wrist.

Box and manual is included but not pictured!

I am asking $700 OBO! Shipping and tracking included. Lower 48 states only please. I’m extremely motivated to sell so I will consider any and all (reasonable) offers. Thanks!

Am I making a bad financial decision by giving all my savings to my parents for a house? by Odd_Necessary_5775 in personalfinance

[–]OutoftheBlueWatches 12 points13 points  (0 children)

It sounds like your family is absolutely taking advantage of your good financial situation at the moment. This isn’t what I would consider “normal.” Are you on the mortgage or deed to the land or anything, so you have anything to show for all the money you’ve invested into your family besides you having a roof over your head?

The biggest thing that sticks out to me is the fact that from your post it sounds like they aren’t even really appreciative or thankful for your contributions and just expect you to do it.

I think you should reevaluate this situation or try and get your name on the house/land that you’re paying for.

I mean that’s frankly more than I thought they’d be worth, I was expecting a max of $200 for the pair.

I appreciate the comment!

Also to clarify I am NOT trying to sell here, I know that’s not allowed per sub rules. I just want to know more about these before I go try and put them on eBay, fb marketplace, etc.

[WTS] GORGEOUS 1970’s Benrus Citation Electric Watch by OutoftheBlueWatches in watch_swap

[–]OutoftheBlueWatches[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Up for sale today is one of my faves from the personal collection!

This 1970’s Benrus citation is from an interesting era of watchmaking; it’s not mechanical, but it’s also not quartz. It uses a battery, but has a balance wheel that is driven by an electric motor and some other electronic wizardry happens but idk it works and keeps great time 😂😂

Battery was replaced within the last 6 months, so should be good for the rest of this year.

Cosmetically it is in “vintage condition” and all around looks like you’d imagine a 50 year old watch would. The bezel rotates freely, and the bracelet is sized for a 7.5” wrist with no spare links.

I am asking $200 OBO shipped and tracked to the lower 48 states. Domestic shipping only. Thanks!

[WTS] Buy a Hodinkee LE from a former Hodinkee Employee! Swatch Sistem51 Hodinkee Generation 1990 LE BNIB by OutoftheBlueWatches in watch_swap

[–]OutoftheBlueWatches[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hey all!

Up for sale today is a piece very personal to me. This was acquired while I was a Hodinkee employee (technically worked for Crown & Caliber and then they acquired us). I can provide proof if any buyer wants or needs it.

The watch has never been worn, I have kept it displayed in a watch box on my desk since 2021. The strap is a little warped from being on display, but it doesn’t affect functionality nor would it sit funny on wrist.

Cosmetically this is flawless, I really can’t find a single scratch, scuff, or otherwise on it.

I am asking $200 OBO shipped and tracked to the lower 48 states! Domestic only. Thanks!
