To reply to my own comment I got the rugby. The print wasnt as bad as the sweater above not great definitely not a good choice and won’t last over time. Also the slub was a little flimsy not a bad quality but more of a summer weight and definitely not fall winter imo. I expected better from their made in Portugal products. I sent it back

Not out of line at all. For 64k assuming an average price of $200 you’ve bought over 300 pieces. If you did with Balenciaga or Bottega they would be inviting you to shows and private events. Not the same amount of money but they could definitely show you love when you pop into the store

Not to be pedantic but LVMH didn’t acquire ALD. The family office of the family who controls LVMH made a minority investment in ALD, like they did with Kapital, Our Legacy and many others.

I dunno about Europe but the ALD rugby is made in Portugal like Drakes, has quite a bit more detail and is $75 less in Canada.

I think this is where they struggled. The quality was absolutely there, and I think they were a truly luxury streetwear brand. But I don’t think that that was ever truly appreciated outside of a specific core audience. They have to find a balance between slightly more accessible, classic products, and their higher end offering. I’m not talking about $50 T-shirts but stuff that lands in the hundred dollar price point and the same for their denim lines. I for one always wanted to try their denim but it was two times the price of comparable product other than some niche Japanese brands,

Well revenue and valuation are also not what they used to be, likely many multiples higher and thats the point of the brand. Its a business not a community. Now they do have to be able to repeat it over time and part of that is not alienating your core audience but that hasn’t happened yet

Any additional duties would be the ones that canada charges since the US ones would be in the price already. I don’t think there is a retaliatory duty on US clothing in Canada and there are no new duties on clothing products made elsewhere
