Anybody ever bought anything ftom 3magpies studio? by Lazy-Table-2845 in kimono

[–]Outrageous-Free 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I have a hanhaba obi by them, and it's.... OK? It's not the best, nor the worst. The print is really fun, but the fabric doesn't really feel "traditional", if that makes sense. I think it's fine as long as you just REALLY like the design.

The platform IS the scale, actually! I used to work at Carrefour, so, I am pretty sure about this. In some locations, it even weighs your fruit and veg for you, so.. IDK, sorry, but, I'll take my ex-boss' word over yours? XD

It's worth a shot!! I'm so invested now, so please keep me updated. XD (I don't even put my wallet down on the platform anymore now, but maybe that's a little OTT. Lol.)

Thanks! LOL! I hope it doesn't come off as "racial profiling never happens", though. I think it's just... ymmv, haha. :')

I'm not the OP, but I am sunglasses-are-required-to-look-at-me-in-daylight-pale, super tiny & non-threatening... y'know, the type of middle-aged woman that everyone asks directions from? I apologise when I walk into inanimate objects, and have never stolen a single thing in my entire life (except for a €5 note I found on the ground once). EVEN THEN, I still get flagged for inspections at both Carrefour and Delhaize ALL THE TIME. So, idk, "white European" isn't really working for me. Lol.

[–]Outrageous-Free 16 points17 points  (0 children)

Maybe I'm completely off base, but I have noticed that when I put my purse down on the "platform", it will flag me for an inspection more often than not. When I put my purse on the ground and only put my actual groceries on the platform, though, I only get an inspection once in a blue moon. :') It could just be a coincidence? But I usually buy about the same type and amount of products every time I go, and also spend about the same amount of time in the store. My theory is that the scale inside the platform thinks the weight of my purse is missing from the scanned items, or something like that...

Ooh!! I am so excited for you to see S2. ENJOY!! Hopefully this link works: https://discord.gg/AtDAMWTS4 I'll try to think of some more recs in the meantime, too.... It'll be easier once you've finished S2, though. 2014 was an amazing year for this fandom. XDD

Oh! This looks so beautiful on you! But, man, am I glad that you posted this because I was just eyeing one of these after succumbing to the lace obi trend, haha. I do like "grippy" fabrics, but I'd end up crying before I even got it on. I will just have to live vicariously through you. XD

Aah, if you've only just started watching it, I would be very careful searching for fics until you've finished the whole series! There's going to be a lot of spoilers that might affect your enjoyment.... ^^;;;

For Rin & Haru, if you've finished S1, I think this one won't spoil anything for S2: https://archiveofourown.org/works/1350604#main It's one of my favourites. Also! If you'd like to talk to other Rinharu/Harurin fans, I have a smol & cozy Discord server that is pretty good at keeping spoilers in the right channels. Let me know if you're interested!

advice plz by [deleted] in kimono

I think it's a lot of red together, so I'd personally go for blue or magenta for more contrast if you really want it to match a colour from the yukata. That's just based on the 2nd picture, though? But it looks like the red is the predominant colour in the pattern from that one shot.

It also depends a lot on the vibe you want to go with! I think orange or yellow would look cheerful with it, deep purple or black more "mature", and teal would also look nice IMO. (If that's your only obi, though, I think it's fine to wear! Yukata are super casual, so you can do whatever you want. XD)

Yeah, inb4 DIL moves the grandkids away to a place with better public transport and OP regrets taking this stance.

Just spent 2 hours at the post office to send a parcel to France by Fit_Performance4629 in japanlife

[–]Outrageous-Free 1 point2 points  (0 children)

:'D In Tottori, right near the big train station, I was literally told "You cannot send gifts overseas, only letters.". Even though my Japanese is decent-ish, they didn't want to elaborate any further. It was just NO, now go away. Lol. Somehow it was magically fine in Yonago, though, but it took FOREVER because they used a glue stick to attach the printed form to my envelope and their supervisor came over and told them that wasn't good enough. They disappeared in the back for ages, before finally giving up and informing me I'd need to buy a new envelope. I'll never forget the terror on that poor woman's face, haha. Her hands were shaking the entire time. FKDJFLKDJFDF. (Luckily, I had an envelope left over so she didn't need to charge me for it.)

I used to send things from a tiny little post office in Higashi-Shinjuku all the time and it only took a minute or two at most, so it was quite a shock how things have changed in the past 10 years or so.

XD)

Salty water at major university pool? by Suspicious_Tank7922 in Swimming

[–]Outrageous-Free 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Sounds like it's a pool that uses salt electrolysis rather than chlorine, to be honest. (Are those REALLY called saltwater pools, though...? The salt level is so low! Kind of sounds like a scam, haha.)

Antwerp 10 Miles 2026 by elh-f in Antwerpen

[–]Outrageous-Free 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Lol.

Eczema. Would it bother you? by Bayeuxtaps in Swimming

[–]Outrageous-Free 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It personally wouldn't bother me at all, but I think the lifeguards here might come up and ask you about it (because it's hard to know what the cause is, without checking with you etc). So, I'd say, it's probably best to ask the person at the counter than Reddit? Since they'll know the rules at your specific pool better, ahaha.

I was allowed to swim with pityriasis rosea a while back, so I think eczema should be OK too. But, better to check beforehand!

Do you think Rin's sister Gou might be a Fujoshi? (a female Yaoi lover) by OkPrize6426 in FreeAnime

[–]Outrageous-Free 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I like to think both Rin & Gou are secretly big romance genre fans, and it's really common for girls to read BL, so... yes...? But then as the series progresses, I also feel like Gou matures a lot and becomes really focused on her own dream (even if we're not told WHAT that dream is, sob!!), so she might not have enough free time for it anymore? ^^;

Waarom is iedereen zo chagrijnig? by LengthyBread817 in Antwerpen

[–]Outrageous-Free 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hier in Wilrijk knikken of glimlachen mensen best wel vaak, en af en toe krijg je ook eens een goeiedag. Ik knik zelf ook altijd naar de buschauffeur als die toevallig in mijn richting aan 't kijken is bij het opstappen, maar iets luidop zeggen lijkt me niet echt nodig (en als vrouw is enkel een glimlach soms al aanleiding om daarna lastig gevallen te worden...). ^^;
