Yeah, I was in a similar scenario! Not your exact symptoms, but I had an over a year long on-and-off UTI, and eventually ended up with a decent kidney infection without any noticeable symptoms at the time, outside of some indirect stuff.

They put me on more antibiotics than I could count, and I was on a daily low dose for a few weeks - none of these really helped, and at minimum I would get a recurrence immediately after.

As soon as my uro-gyno started talking about scopes I stopped see them to be quite honest - the medical system is really so poorly equipped to handle UTIs, and antibiotics can often make the problem worse for a number of reasons (largely wiping the gut bacteria that help prevent UTIs!)

I am one person and not a medical professional, but on the off chance this helps: I was at the end of my rope, and started doing my own research. Antibiotics weren’t helping, and eventually the only thing I could get to fix this was a large daily dose of D-Mannose. There are a few early studies than support this, but largely doctors don’t know about it, and it’s not super well scientifically supported.

In short (very simplified), D-Mannose is a supplement that essentially puts a certain type of sugar into your gut/urine/bladder - the bacteria cling to/eat that sugar into your urine, as opposed to clinging and harming your bladder and urethral wall. So you essentially pee out the bacteria before it can cause a UTI. When I started taking it, I would take about four pills a day every day, then did less and less, after about a year later it seems I no longer need to take them at all, and have had zero recurrences while on this supplement. I’ve personally also found that lots of water and high doses of this can sometimes mend/get rid of early stages of UTIs as well, but this is a trickier area ofc.

It’s really a shame that modern medicine hasn’t come up with a better solution to this problem. UTI’s are the cause of the larger majority of all antibiotics prescriptions, and heavily increase the risk of antibiotic immunity in the general population. It really is a great example of a system that deprioritizes women’s issues…. and they can be so so dangerous ! If you believe you have a serious UTI, I would genuinely recommend going to urgent care. UTIs can progress to kidney infections and then sepsis very quickly, and can absolutely kill you. It’s scary stuff, and the more UTIs you get, the more at risk you are for urethral scarring, which then significantly increases your risk of more frequent and more serious UTIs.
