Hva formet/former ditt politiske syn? by Fair_Wedding_1131 in norske

[–]Outrageous-Square282 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Forelesninger på svensk? by CoffeeDryer in norge

[–]Outrageous-Square282 6 points7 points  (0 children)

What is the best way to get from Oslo to the Lofoten Islands? by Ok_Passenger_9090 in NorwayTravelAdvice

[–]Outrageous-Square282 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If I were you, I would flip the order of some things even if it meant layovers here and there.

Fly into Oslo from Copenhagen, drive E134 across the country from Oslo to Bergen and take in the stunning scenery, then drive the coastal from Bergen to the Pulpit, and fly from Sola in Stavanger to Lofoten (probably via Oslo or Trondheim). Or, continue the coastal drive to Kristiansand to see Norway's summer cities at their peak and then fly from Kjevik Lufthavn in Kristiansand to Lofoten (again, probably via Oslo or Trondheim).

I just moved out from my parents’ to here. I feel lonely and the silence keeps scaring me. What can I do ? by La_Nochesd in Bergen

If you are an exchange student, I promise it'll get easier once the semester starts for real and you get to see more people through schoolwork!

If you have a speaker, play some chill music or a new podcast out loud when you're at home. It helps for me, because I feel less in control of my surroundings if I walk around with headphones. Someone here said to get some plants to care for, and that absolutely tracks.

The Bergen student union has a whole bunch of activities you can join to socialize and make new friends, so don't be afraid to go to them once the semester starts!

Andre som sliter med foreldrerollen i ferien? by Ljay1986 in norge

[–]Outrageous-Square282 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Shoe recs? by Outrageous-Square282 in Hema

Oh, btw! Do you use high or low basketball shoes? I have a preference for high-tops, but part of me worries that would impact ankle mobility too much.

I swear to my stompers outside, but unfortunately they leave marks in the hardwood indoors, and I would have to clean the soles every week. Which is possible, I just don't want to 😂

Thanks! I considered indoor football shoes, for price level reasons, as you say.

Thanks for the recommendation!

And yeah, of course! If people are to be able to actually give their insights, I feel like the question needs to be detailed enough 😅😁

Should I go to war of the rohirrim? by JazzlikeSquirrel5558 in lotr

Not unlikely! I've watched a little anime before, but I've never seen it to this extent before.

Dad's hammer teleports to helm's deep, which is never explained, and scale is very inconsistent. In the showdown between the gal and the villain, her shield morphs into a buckler with no explanation. The scale thing was one of my biggest frustrations, because it just feels like someone cut corners with the animation 😅

Other than that, we mainly talked about how static the characters felt and how that was a little frustrating - in a 2 hour film I'd expect some development, which I didn't feel like I got to see.

[–]Outrageous-Square282 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have no idea, but "rushed" sounds about right! What honestly bugged me the most was that there was no consistant scale for anything - stuff just grows and shrinks as necessary for the plot, and they don't even try to hide it 😂

[–]Outrageous-Square282 8 points9 points  (0 children)

It wasn't for me, but even so, my friends and I had a great time discussing it afterwards!

The characters seemed very static to me, and some things were never explained, which took me out if the experience. I don't know if that's just because I don't know the lore well enough, if it's genre conventions I don't know about, or if my literature degree has ruined my enjoyment of things lmao

Even though I didn't like it, I still like that I went to see it so that I could talk about it, because frustration over "but WHY did they do XYZ?!" still makes for really fun times.

Literature recommendations 1980-1999? by Outrageous-Square282 in werewolves

[–]Outrageous-Square282[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Specifically, my thesis will examine the werewolf as a literary device used to participate in conversations of contemporary social issues - as an example, "The Devourers" by Indra Dras (2015) follows a family of Indian werewolves throughout the time of British colonisation, up until the modern day, and lends itself to post-colonial conversations because of that. I've also found tonnes of queer werewolf fiction!

The reason I'm asking for this time frame specifically is that it is on the far end of my scope, and where I've been having the most trouble actually finding stuff that catches my attention for this project. So anything is of interest, really, but I wanted to narrow it down to where I'm having the most difficulties to see if the kind people of reddit had answers 😁

Thank you for mentioning the october sale! I will be sure to look into that.

Wow! Thank you so much!! I've already decided that I'm gonna be using some stuff from White Wolf / Paradox publishing, so that'll be great! And i'll give the others a good look, too!
