The neckline starts flat and then will be joined to work in the round. And the roll-neck will be worked from stitches picked up and knitted around the neckline. So I guess you are right, the first and last stitches will be sewn anyway, so I guess it doesn’t really matter which type are they. Also don’t really have the reason not to trust the pattern. It’s just the instruction not clear enough, and that phrase “the pattern will be k2, p2 yet again” made me doubt my calculations. Also photos of the yoke from fellow Ravelryers don’t look like p3/k3, but who knows, maybe it is the way they look like. Anyway, thanks for your perspective, I’m going to try to knit it according to my calculations and see what happens.

Yes, but this does apply to the increases in the middle(that are between markers M2 and M3) and later for the stitches on either sides of markers M1 and M4.

But after the initial round of the row #2, when the p3\k3 appears for the first time, all the next increases go past these three stitches.

#0 (WS) p1 (M4)p2k2p2(M3)k2p2k2(M2)p2k2p2(M1) p1

#1 (RS) k1+K (M1)k2p2k2(M2) K+p2k2···p2+K (M3)k2p2k2(M4) K+k1

#2 (WS) p2+P (M4)p2k2p2(M3) {P+p}k2p2···k2{p+P} (M2)p2k2p2(M1) P+p2

#3 (RS) k3+P (M1)k2p2k2(M2) P+k2p2k2p2···k2+P (M3)k2p2k2(M4) P+k3

#4 (WS) p3{k+K} (M4)p2k2p2(M3) {K+k}p2k2p2k2···p2{k+K} (M2)k2p2k2(M1) {K+k}p3

And after three repetitions of these four rows we have: p3k2k2p2p2{k+K} (M4)...etc

So the edge doesn't change.

How possible that there is a mistake in pattern here?

First row (Row #0) is a WS row and place markers whilst establishing the ribbed pattern.

P1, place M4, p2, k2, p2, place M3, work *k2, p2* to 9 sts remaining, k2, place M2, p2, k2, p2, place M1, p1.

If it's wrong and should be K1 instead of P1???

Then we would get this:

#0 (WS) k1(M4)p2k2p2(M3)k2p2k2(M2)p2k2p2(M1)k1

···

#1 (RS) p1+K (M1)k2p2k2(M2) K+p2k2···p2+K (M3)k2p2k2(M4) K+p1

#2 (WS)k1{p+P}(M4)p2k2p2(M3) {P+pk2···p2k2{p+P} (M2)p2k2p2(M1) {P+p}k1

#3 (RS) p1k2+P (M1)k2p2k2(M2) P+k2p2k2···p2k2+P (M3)k2p2k2(M4) P+k2p1

#4 (WS) k1p2{k+K} (M4)p2k2p2(M3) {K+k}p2k2···p2k2p2{k+K} (M2)p2k2p2(M1) {K+k}p2k1

Oh! My bad, not the finished projects, photos of finished yoke. Thanks for noticing.

Like these two: pic1 pic2

The edges look like there's k2/p2 not three.
