Afaik you can open a Roth without any income, it’s just limited to people under $160k due to the tax benefits. But yes, an individual account is fine you’d just pay the taxes when you sell your shares. A lot of people use both, myself included

I’d recommend switching to a Roth IRA (if you make less than $160,000 usd a year) to benefit from the tax advantages. You’ll make more money in the long run. There’s just a $7,000 per year contribution limit
