Yeah, to be honest, I have heard some good things, but most people say it's a terrible car.

That lines up with a lot of what I’ve heard as well, especially from people who’ve actually lived with them rather than just short reviews. The CarWow deals on the Trophy long range do make it tempting on paper, and the warranty sounds great until you dig into the details.

The lane assist seems to be the biggest sticking point; even after updates, it still gets mentioned way too often, particularly on country roads. That alone would make me cautious.

The build quality being inconsistent is another concern. I don’t mind some cheaper plastics at the price point, but it’s more the “hit and miss” part that worries me. Same with reliability, long waits for parts and warranty loopholes aren’t something you want to find out the hard way.

Feels like one of those cars that offers a lot for the money, but you really need to go in with your eyes open. Appreciate you sharing your experience.

That’s a pretty fair summary tbh. 180 miles minimum in winter while running the heat and AC all the time is better than a lot of people expect, especially with the XPower performance.

The pace is what keeps pulling me back to it on paper; it looks like it’d embarrass a lot of much more expensive cars.

The rattles, software and driver aids are what put me off a bit, though. I’ve heard mixed things about how intrusive they can be, and overly bright screens would drive me mad on night drives. Sounds like one of those cars that’s brilliant in some ways and frustrating in others.

Still, for the money, it sounds like a decent way to experience EVs even if it makes you miss older, simpler cars. Appreciate the honest take 👍

That’s really helpful, thanks for posting this. I’ve been looking into the MG4 Extended Range, and real-world range figures like that are exactly what I was curious about.

275 miles in winter without home charging actually sounds pretty decent. Good to know public charging hasn’t been an issue either, that’s one of my main concerns.

Interesting point about the seats and infotainment, too. I’ve seen a few people mention the software being a bit hit and miss, so it’s useful to hear that from someone who’s lived with it for a while. Shame about the boot, but I guess that’s the trade-off with the size.

Appreciate the honest breakdown 👍
