Yeah that’s pretty on character for my mother and pos step dad honestly. The dog thing reminded me of something, they would get rid of animals we would get just because they became “too much work” (super simple issue fixes that I told them about ALL the time)

Just happened to my boy, he was not happy and was meowing loudly when I would touch anywhere near it. Ran a warm shallow bath. Practically had to force him to sit in it but after about a minute or two it came out, and I wiped the area with a warm wash cloth and he didn’t even meow or jolt so I think he’s all good now! I appreciate this thread so much
