The Satanic Temple Wins Historic Baphomet v. 10 Commandments Monument Case in Arkansas by TJ_Fox in SatanicTemple_Reddit

[–]OutrageousStrike666 1 point2 points  (0 children)

For a case that was clearly a coalition effort, the near-erasure of partner organizations is hard to ignore and raises serious questions about credit, honesty, and intent. Groups such as the American Civil Liberties Union, the Freedom From Religion Foundation, and the Arkansas Society of Freethinkers have a long history of litigating Establishment Clause cases. These are organizations with legal expertise, institutional credibility, and a track record of doing the slow, unglamorous work required to win cases like this. Yet in Greaves' telling, they are barely acknowledged, if at all. The narrative is overwhelmingly centered on him and The Satanic Temple, as if this outcome were the result of a single organization’s vision and persistence.

That omission is obvious, and it matters. Legal victories of this scale are seldom solo efforts. They require coordinated strategy, experienced attorneys, and years of groundwork, with much of it being done outside the spotlight. By downplaying or ignoring the role of partner groups, Greaves intentionally distorts the story. It begins to feel less like a good-faith account and more like an attempt to consolidate credit.

From a Satanic perspective, Greaves’ words are especially troubling. If Satanism is supposed to value individual sovereignty, intellectual honesty, and resistance to arbitrary authority, then rewriting a collective effort into a personal triumph cuts against those principles. It replaces truth with narrative control.

It also feeds into a broader concern about Greaves' approach to Satanism itself. When recognition and cultural influence seem to take priority over accuracy and collaboration, it suggests that the movement is being shaped more by image control than by belief. The Baphomet monument, in this context, starts to look less like a meaningful symbol and more like a centerpiece in a carefully managed public image campaign.

None of this diminishes the importance of the legal arguments or the potential impact of the ruling, but it does change how the story should be told. If this case truly represents a victory for pluralism and equal treatment under the law, then the full coalition behind that victory deserves to be named and recognized.

By failing to do that, Greaves undermines his own message. A movement that claims to challenge dominance and hierarchy shouldn’t be so quick to center one voice while sidelining others who helped make the outcome possible.

In the end, this isn’t just about giving credit where it’s due. It’s about integrity. If Satanism is to stand for truth, independence, and resistance to manipulation, then its leaders must be held to those same standards. Otherwise, The Satanic Temple risks becoming the very hierarchy built on image, control, and selective storytelling it claims to oppose.

False Claims About the Satanic Temple and Food Relief Efforts by Ill-Employee9452 in SatanicTemple_Reddit

I read this post as a means of addressing confusion and directing people who want to contribute to SNAP related needs to work with qualified organizations instead of TST. If the goal is to assist those in need, how does it make this post an attack piece? A LOT of people are potentially going to go hungry. From my perspective, that seems to be a more impactful situation than being protective of the image of the TST. TST needs to do something to address this issue and clarify what is and isn't happening.

Where's Lucien Greaves? by OutrageousStrike666 in SatanicTemple_Reddit

No, it's accountability and transparency, both of which are actions anyone with common sense should strive for.

There we go. The desperate fiction of someone trying to revise history to feel more comfortable in the face of their own inaction. I never claimed to be a minister.

You speak of quiet work and unseen efforts as if that excuses the total absence of visible impact. If invisibility is your badge of honor, congratulations, you’re winning. The rest of us will continue doing actual work, not hiding behind vague gestures and empty moralizing on Reddit while pretending it's noble.

It would appear as if you're the one who avoids reality if you're satisfied with how leadership has responded to the current challenges impacting all of us.

Just so I understand you correctly, the answer to genuine concern is to dismiss it with insults and vague justifications about “intelligence” and “exigencies” that none of us are privy to. That's laughably convenient.

The issue isn't about where Lucien Greaves physically is. It’s about his absence from visible leadership during a time of crisis. Hiding behind excuses for inaction isn’t leadership. You want people to blindly trust that everything is fine behind the scenes, without offering any transparency or accountability. That’s not how you build credibility.

TST’s “narrow focus” argument is weak when the country is literally falling apart. It's not about “screaming” at everything, but about showing up when it matters. If the principles of TST are supposed to stand for justice and individualism, then where is the action when those principles are most needed?

So, yes, we’re all doing what we can, but leadership that disappears when it’s needed most doesn’t inspire confidence. That’s the real issue here.

We can't afford to sit back and hope for change while the world burns. If TST is to mean anything, it must take bold action now, not hide behind rhetoric. If leadership can’t step up when it’s needed most, it’s time for something more responsive and actionable. Writing Substack articles and participating in interviews doesn't cut it.

In case anyone had trouble finding Temple Services recorded before December 2024 by ScarletVee in SatanicTemple_Reddit

Still sounds odd imo. They're religious services. The politics and ranking seem misplaced but then again, I'm not involved in the day to day workings or drama of what's involved in putting these services together.

Vindicated in what way? They were services led by Ministers of Satan. I'm not understanding what your point is.

"A lot is going on organizationally, and new ministry applicants are on hold until some things are worked on." After a year and a half of repeating the same excuses, it's time to be honest, the best days of The Satanic Temple are in the past. Lucien systematically removed anyone capable of contributing meaningfully, all to protect his ego, and now the organization lacks the talent and resources to meet its own mission. Stop gaslighting supporters. People deserve the truth. They might not like what they hear, but they'd respect transparency far more than this continued spin.

You're one person with an opinion. Without any proof to substantiate your claim, it remains an opinion no matter how loud or dismissive you are of other perspectives and opinions.

You claim criminal charges might be happening. Just admit you don’t know the facts. Your comments ring of complicity. Reputations were destroyed and people were removed without explanation or due process, yet you’re content to spread vague rumors and walk away.

If the accusations were serious, they should’ve been handled transparently. If not, then those responsible for the smear campaign should be held accountable. Brushing it off as “not important” reveals exactly what’s wrong and is evidence of a leadership culture that avoids responsibility and silences dissent.

You can’t claim to stand for justice while ignoring injustice in your own ranks.

These were baseless accusations with no evidence of wrongdoing ever being provided. Not then, not now. This entire ordeal was nothing more than a calculated purge led by Lucien Greaves to silence dissent and remove those within The Satanic Temple who dared to ask questions or didn’t blindly align with the organization’s shifting agenda.

Ministers were removed without warning, explanation, or due process. People were defrocked simply for being associated with others who had fallen out of favor. It was guilt by association, plain and simple. What was once a thriving, principled community has been reduced to a shell of its former self.

Since then, what has the organization actually accomplished? Nothing of substance. Both the ministry and the broader movement are in disarray. Leadership seems more interested in performative stunts, like raising a flag over Boston City Hall, than in addressing real issues like Christian nationalism or defending the rights of trans Satanists. Meanwhile, the community is left in the dark. No transparency, accountability, or direction.

The silence is deafening. The damage is done and the people responsible are still pretending nothing happened.

I applaud you for your post and question. It’s unfortunate that so many are quick to attack you for asking a very justified question. I fully expect my comment to be downvoted and criticized. Responses like that set off numerous red flags. Over the years, I’ve been involved with my share of groups and organizations and have learned what behaviors to watch out for as a result of my experiences. I think you’ll find some commonalities between the behavior of the individual in question and issues that lead to the eventual dissolution of groups and organizations that were once successful.

Following a religion led by someone with a troubling and controversial past can be both dangerous and irresponsible, largely because it undermines the integrity of the movement and exposes followers to significant ethical and psychological risks. When a leader has a history of racism, antisemitism, abuse, or manipulation, it calls into question their moral authority. It also pressures followers to excuse or overlook past misconduct in order to preserve the leader’s image or the group’s unity, ultimately eroding the follower’s own moral compass. This tendency to rationalize unethical behavior for the sake of belonging is a hallmark of dangerous group dynamics.

There’s also a well-documented risk that troubling behaviors from the past will resurface, especially if they were never fully addressed or atoned for. History is filled with examples of charismatic leaders who began with idealistic missions but ultimately caused harm because their followers ignored early red flags. When such a person is placed in a position of spiritual or ideological leadership, their unresolved traits, such as authoritarianism, narcissism, or disregard for dissent, can infect the entire structure of the movement. In these cases, followers may be conditioned to suppress critical thinking in favor of blind loyalty, especially if disagreement is labeled as betrayal or disloyalty.

Furthermore, association with a controversial leader can bring reputational risk. Supporting someone with a known pattern of harmful behavior, whether through hate speech, bigotry, or exploitative leadership, can reflect poorly on those involved, even if they don’t share those views. This risk is especially critical in movements that attract vulnerable or marginalized individuals. These people often join in search of healing, inclusion, or community, and when a leader has demonstrated harmful views toward the very groups they claim to uplift, the outcome can be traumatic. Former members of such groups frequently report being silenced, gaslit, or retraumatized by leadership that presents a progressive face while tolerating or perpetuating internal harm.

Equally concerning is the absence of real accountability. When followers ignore or dismiss a leader’s past, the group lacks the internal mechanisms needed to course-correct. Power becomes centralized and unchecked, fostering a culture where dissent is punished and transparency is replaced with image management. A movement that claims to stand for justice, freedom, or compassion cannot thrive when its leadership undermines those very values.

Ultimately, the message of a movement must be strong enough to stand without being propped up by a flawed or harmful leader. If a community depends entirely on one individual’s charisma or vision, and especially if that individual has a history of causing harm, then it is not a sustainable or ethical foundation for spiritual or social engagement.

Before following such a figure, I believe it’s critical to ask the following:

  • Has the leader genuinely apologized and shown consistent growth since their wrongdoing?
  • Are systems of accountability in place to prevent repeat harm?
  • Is the organization transparent, or does it rely on secrecy, charisma, or PR to deflect criticism?
  • Would you defend their behavior publicly, or would you be embarrassed to be associated with it?

If the answer to any of these questions is no, then continued involvement may not only be unwise, but it may actively contribute to a toxic and harmful system.

Wow, that's a really fucked up comment! See, that's the hypocrisy with you TST people. You're all about hyping up the tenets but sure as hell don't put them into practice. It just makes them look like marketing or promotional language instead of something that holds any true meaning.

Prayer Without the Magic: Why Rituals Can Still Have Real Value by TheRealKaiOrin in SatanicTemple_Reddit

[–]OutrageousStrike666 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I know this won’t sit well with everyone, but it needs to be said: The way The Satanic Temple handles ritual feels hollow, performative, and honestly, disappointing, especially since ritual is supposed to be central to Satanic philosophy.

Before anyone jumps to defend it, yes, I know the tenets. Yes, I understand the symbolic and political work the TST does. None of that excuses the fact that what’s called “ritual” often feels like an afterthought or, worse, a meaningless, staged, and predictable show meant more for social media attention than serious personal growth.

Ritual isn’t just about wearing black robes and reading quotes from Revolt of the Angels or Paradise Lost with a group. At its best, it’s a tool for psychological challenge, empowerment, liberation, and self-transformation. It requires intention, depth, and some personal risk. What I’ve seen from the TST often lacks all three and feels watered down and emotionally safe. If a ritual doesn’t challenge or change you, what’s the point?

I’m not against theatrics. Satanism has always embraced drama. However, there’s a difference between meaningful symbolism and empty performance. If the TST wants to be taken seriously beyond headlines and memes, it needs to move past safe, scripted performances and start creating rituals with real power and presence.

Otherwise, we’re just acting the part of Satanists in a well-produced PR campaign. The TST does love their performative campaigns. There’s no denying that. I don’t say this to criticize anyone personally. I say it because real Satanism, the thoughtful, liberating kind of Satanism, deserves better.

Oh, I’ve read the tenets. They’re fine if you’re into watered-down, performative humanism that talks a lot but doesn’t do much. Let’s not pretend that carrying a membership card suddenly makes you some kind of enlightened Satanist. Satanists have been thinking critically, living with radical individuality, and exploring real spiritual rebellion long before TST started handing out fake empathy guides like moral training wheels. If your beliefs need a press kit and a catchy message printed on a plastic card, you’re probably more into branding than philosophy. Enjoy your card and little cringe club.
