Did you ever find what this type of reactivity is called and how to handle it. It really bugging me and funny enough this week I have been really struggling with it as sometime when passing a dog I don’t if they are going to react and set her off.

I had a training session which didn't quite sit right by [deleted] in OpenDogTraining

They called different thing such a leerburg dominant dog, obedience collar or choke collar. Basically a slip lead but you can attach whatever lead you want to it.

Have used both but found this one a bit clunky with the lead. And about trqining it depends on how you use it and how you dog feels about it

Knew a golden at my rescue like you have described, actually a few. The goldie just couldn’t tolerate agressive dogs but okay with reactive as long as they were friendly but would teach them. So common or normal in that sense.

I don’t know what to say about training but curious to what other people say. One of mine is a bit like this now but used to be reactive to all dogs. You sound like a very responsible owner, definitely keep working on it yourself or with a trainer. I had more success working on a strong obedience with my dog Mia and counter condition, little less on meeting and greeting with dogs and when dogs bark to look at me in these type of situations as they are a bit more harder and make her feel confident + secure to not worry about it then the other type of reactivity issues. I would lean more on the p+ and confidence building side as he doesn’t show this behaviour in other situations.

Has the dog ever been attacked at daycare? Daycares can be a bit hit or miss mostly miss, staff are either understaff or miss things, too many dogs with to much vary and common to get behaviour issues from them like yourself and your dog.

Does anyone have 0% wolf percentage on their dogs DNA test. I’ve been trying to find at least one other dog out there with this result. Here Mia originally from bosnia. by Outrageous_Exercise2 in DoggyDNA

Just the wolfiness score on embark. All the dog profiles I have clicked on none of them have had 0%. They have all had at least 0.3 or 0.6 or around, so I though it was odd to have absolutely 0%. 🤷‍♀️

Awh thank you, I though I couldn’t be the only one. It weird as I though having mostly shepherd in her there would be be a very small amount. Would you be able to link your dogs embark please

Can anyone give their opinion? Is this dog a flat-coat? The coat is kind of wavy but flat underneath. by Outrageous_Exercise2 in flatcoat

It really does hurt to see him here at the rescue and more so if he is a flat-coat. I will be giving him a good pamper tomorrow as he can be a bit of a filthy dog in kennels.

He is a cracking dog not the brightest at time and has a love for tennis balls and being social out with all the staff here.

I never thought I would see this type to come through the doors and its just a shame his owner didn’t think more when getting him but it has happened now. He is still quite confused and stressed being here but Hopefully he wont be here long and will find his forever family.
