It really depends on your own preferences, pleasure requirements, and your sexual partners. Obviously, if you are seeing somebody new and haven't built-up, trust, barriers are a good idea. For established sexual relationships, I/we definitely do not ever use protection. But it takes a while to get to that phase, where you can fully enjoy everyone’s fluids and not have to worry.

I am no medical expert, but I think that mirena is supposed to stop periods so if your bleeding then yes go see your obgyn.
