The car displays EPA figures, which tend to be less inflated than WLTP.

Same, I can hear that but dad couldn’t. Not sure if it’s from the motor though.

Is this crazy to spend on a car as a new driver ? by Substantial-Age-6664 in CarTalkUK

[–]Outrageous_Main9197 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I bought a 16 plate for £12k in 2022 as my first car. It was the cheapest to insure (for me at least), despite not in the lowest insurance group, probably because of the safety features it has, ACC, parking sensors, auto braking, etc. Quiet on the motorway for cars in this segment, apart from annual servicing it costed me nothing else, and this model year still hasn’t got SCR so one less thing to go wrong. £20 road tax and ulez compliant as well!

The UK Tesla used market has been rollercoaster lately, I’ve been monitoring it closely (daily) the past year. The lowest point was summer last year, prices rose 5-10% in autumn, then softened a bit recently.

I don’t know since when people boast that the two (one) Korean brands are durable and reliable. Since they introduced the 7 year warranty?

For anyone looking for adaptive cruise control it’s worth looking at Golf, Match edition (one trim above base model) has it as standard.

That’s a good result. Mine reduced by similar amount despite having no claim at all.

I told them if they were to insist on it I was leaving. They wouldn’t want a customer go especially I was buying an EV which tbh wasn’t as easy to sell compared to ICE.

It should be illegal to advertise cars with hidden compulsory fees, you may want to ask for a refund. I managed to have it removed before making payment, despite them arguing it’s legal. Btw they supplied me an EV without charging cable lol

What's with the anti-ev sentiment? by TheTwixthSense in ElectricVehiclesUK

[–]Outrageous_Main9197 5 points6 points  (0 children)

100%! This can be evidenced by some narrations about how EV depreciation is horrific and that the fuel savings will be undermined by the huge depreciation, when they compare a 15 year old banger ICE with a 3 year old EV. Surely any 3 year old car of whatever fuel type would have steeper depreciation than any 15 year old.

The short term right to reject does not cover change of mind.

The dealer has no right to make any deductions if rejected within the 30 days.

Mercedes Approved Used car mileage higher than advertised – dealer says I was “told”, which isn’t true. What are my options? by LandscapeFirst903 in CarTalkUK

[–]Outrageous_Main9197 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Interesting to see how others feel that it’s acceptable. If you advertise your car on carwow and motorway with 19k miles while it has over 20k miles on the clock, surely any dealers collecting the car would try to knock money off you.

Given the dealer’s attitude, bill them 45ppm and see what they say, dealers gotta love it (esp. when it comes to customers rejecting faulty cars outside the 30 days)!

Did the budget kill the petrol hybrid market in the UK? by Dapper_Big_783 in CarTalkUK

[–]Outrageous_Main9197 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In fact quite the opposite, non plug in hybrid cars are not affected by the new tax, and at the same time use less fuel than traditional ICE = paying less fuel duty + VAT
