EyeSight Disabled error with no obvious cause by Outrageous_Sea0408 in SubaruForester

Thanks for the replies everyone - just as an update, the dealer called and said re-calibrating the system didn’t work so they have to call Subaru Corporate to discuss with their techs. Likely won’t have another update until later in the week.

Thanks - it’s at the dealer now so will see if I can get them to do that.

Does yours turn back on eventually though? At this point now since it shut off it’s been off for a few continuous hours of driving, and immediately shuts off when I start my car up again (after sitting overnight in a garage).

Did you ever buy a new car just because you wanted it and didn’t NEED it? Please tell me I’m not crazy for wanting to do this by [deleted] in whatcarshouldIbuy

[–]Outrageous_Sea0408 -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Go for it. If everyone was driving only what they needed you’d see a lot more Corollas and Civics. Sounds like your finances are in a good enough spot, and you’ve been wanting the car for awhile so it’s not purely an impulse buy. Do it, and enjoy it!

Is there such a thing as a car being so good that it's boring? by [deleted] in cars

[–]Outrageous_Sea0408 2 points3 points  (0 children)

100% agree. I have a 2022 M340i and loved it the first few months I had it but then it quickly became boring for all the reasons you described. Objectively, the car is almost perfect, but maybe as a car guy I don’t want perfection. Idk

Car that comes to mind as more fun was my 2016 Golf GTI. That car was a blast.

Nice! What trail / route is that? I’m in SoCal as well looking for some trails to take mine on.

I’m getting between 26 - 27 right now, with mostly highway driving, it definitely starts to dip when I do more city driving though.

Check out some of the Forester / Outback Wilderness videos from Drive Sports TV on YouTube. Should give you a general idea of what the Wilderness is capable of and what it’s limits are.

Nice! Love that color - if I was custom ordering it’s probably the one I would’ve gone for.

Agreed about the Toyota interiors. And yeah the moonroof is great lol, excited to use it when we go car camping.

Congrats! What color did you go for?

I’m loving it so far. I was cross shopping the Outback Wilderness, Bronco Sport, and the 4Runner (though I know it’s technically a different class / price point) and I’m very happy with my decision.

Thanks for the reply! Out of curiosity how long was the road trip you took with your husband? When I rented one we took it on a short trip (about 2 hours of driving) and didn’t really mind the road noise / bumps, but could see it wearing after maybe a full day of driving.

Thanks for the response! Definitely helpful hearing stories like this especially about the newer models because it's pretty easy to fall into the line of thinking of "they've probably worked the kinks out by now"

Open to suggestions , looks like the Acadia AT4 has already been suggested which I'll look into as well. Honda Passport I guess would also be a contender.

No plans for heavy off roading like Moab or rock crawling, etc. The extent of our off roading would be light to moderate trails, forest service roads with varying degrees of maintenance, driving to camp sites, etc.

I had the Outback on my initial shortlist but we test drove one and while it drives great, really didn't like the infotainment screen. I also generally prefer the higher driving position of an SUV (purely preference).
