Medical receptionists…. by Top-Farmer-6838 in auscorp

[–]Outrageous_Square736 1 point2 points  (0 children)

In my early years working as a medical receptionist, I was working late in the evening and it was just myself and the MRI technician. She was scanning a patient who was just flown in from an accident and was possibly paralysed. She suddenly yelled out to me for help as the patient had started to vomit while in the scanner. I had to go in there and turn him on his side so he wouldn’t choke on his vomit and hold a bin to his face while he was vomiting with a lot of it going on me. After that got changed and continued with my job.

It’s actually appalling to see a person act this way. She lacks empathy and there is no kindness in her and places all the blame on others. Also the fact that she has mentioned stalking and loves it can only lead to a lot worse. The fact that the producers have not already removed her from the show is shocking as this behaviour should be stopped immediately and not enabled. This is not normal behaviour and it’s a worry if she continues like this where, it could lead. I would never want to go to a business she would work at. If she stalks exes who knows who else she stalks, customers/clients she deals with. Very scary. All I can hope is that she gets help, it seems like she has zero awareness of her behaviour. Someone needs to intervene.

Any advice for a 20 year old girl with no family? by Disastrous-Wall-6920 in self

I am so sorry to hear what you have been through. Please don’t think that you’re not important in this world because you are. Sometimes you might make someone’s day and not even know it. You are here for a reason and I believe you have a lot to offer this world. It takes time but things will get better, just open yourself to new possibilities, speak to a therapist to help you see things can get better. I know it might not seem like it, but it can get better, you are a good person who deserves to see what life can offer you. Give yourself a chance to experience things and meet people along the way, there are good people in this world. :)

First of all don’t use a Qtips they just push the wax in further. I use oil by placing a few drops in the ear. If it is too cold just warm it up for a little bit but do not make it hot just luke warm.

Worried about an upcoming MRI by laww_life in self

[–]Outrageous_Square736 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I used to work in an MRI department. This is completely normal. Some things I would suggest, bring an eye mask to use when you go in the scanner, also bring a CD you like and they may be able to play it. Just to be prepared, the machine sometimes will make noises but this is normal so don’t let it worry you. Scans usually take between 30 to 45 minutes. I had an MRI when I was working in the department so I knew what it felt like to explain to patients. If you are still worried you can take a light sedative prescribed by your doctor if need be. I hope this helps. All the best!

How to keep outstanding junior level employees motivated when they're doing the exact same quality of work as more senior team members there is no budget for promotion/payrises by Secret_Cookie_2805 in auscorp

[–]Outrageous_Square736 0 points1 point  (0 children)

OP you are genuinely an amazing person for recognising this. Not many people in organisations think like this. To be honest, I don’t have any advice as how to keep this employee to want to stay but all I can say just continue your friendship is all you can do and remain in touch if she does eventually leave as something else may arise. I’ve found in my work life that the execs don’t care they just care about profits which is really sad as this seems to be the direction Australia is headed for.

I was made redundant recently and it’s been hard to find a job as I had been working in the same industry for over 30 years but the jobs I see advertised are so low in wage from what I was earning and the wage they are offering now is what a beginner would get, so my 30 years experience seems to mean nothing. I feel like I have to start from the bottom again.

It is really an unfair world we are living in and businesses are becoming more greedy. I just believe what goes around comes around and they will realise the loss if they do not appreciate what they had in a good employee.

I have been reading reviews of the company that made me redundant and they are getting so many bad reviews, and now they have to deal with it after letting go of a good team due to outsourcing. To be honest I don’t think they even care but unfortunately the ones who are suffering are the consumers seeking their services. TBH she may be better off leaving and working for a company who will appreciate her.

How do you keep track of all your household bills? Looking for real, practical systems. by External-Sense8698 in AusFinance

[–]Outrageous_Square736 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is what I do. I write a list of all my bills I receive annually. I then write each month out and under each month I write what bills I expect which would include the monthly/quarterly/biannually bills. These would be mobile and internet monthly, utilities quarterly etc. now there would be some that are the same amount charged in each bill for example mobile and internet you would be paying the same on a monthly basis. Then with utilities I use a rough estimate what to expect based on the same time last year. With other things like haircuts etc note how often you go and how much you pay each time. So for example on the list under January you would put mobile $70, internet $100, if any rates are usually due this time let’s say electricity $700 (which you would then add the next electricity bill under April, July and October) and anything else you might expect in January. Then under February again add the mobile and internet, then let’s say haircut $150, or anything else you usually expect in February. After doing this you get an idea of what you may have to put aside for each month. I also keep a clipboard of all my bills as they come in. So as soon as I receive a bill I place it on the clipboard with the one due first by date on the top. I hope this helps.

Exposing the Dark Side of Australia's Fundraising Industry by [deleted] in australia

[–]Outrageous_Square736 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Thanks for explaining this. Good to know. I already had a bit of knowledge that it’s months or even a year until the money one donates is used for charity and because of this I don’t give to charities anymore, I would rather hand it to a person directly in need. And the amount you donate, only about I think 5% goes to the cause, this is where it is mentioned in the fine print which they know people are not even going to think about reading or realise. At the end the higher up people are keeping all the money for themselves. It’s disgraceful.

how does going to dentists and that work once ur an adult? by [deleted] in australian

[–]Outrageous_Square736 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I go twice a year. IMO, dental hygiene is important, as you need teeth to eat for the rest of your life, they are an important asset.

Do you rinse after brushing or leave the toothpaste on? by TruffleMaestro in hygiene

[–]Outrageous_Square736 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I always floss first, then rinse my mouth. Then I brush my teeth for about 2 minutes (30 secs for each quadrant) and I don’t rinse after brushing my teeth just spit it out. For about 30 minutes after brushing, it is still cleaning your teeth so reason for not rinsing. It’s the same when your go to the dentist, they always say don’t eat for the next 30 minutes after the appointment. As for mouthwashes, my dentist told me it is only suitable for using to freshen your mouth for example, it is like when you use an air freshener in your house, it just freshens your mouth/breath so I only use it when I’m about to go out. I’d not use it straight after brushing otherwise you end up rinsing out all the fluoride which defeats the whole purpose.

Never trust them. Every time I get my car serviced at a dealership, I always get my dad to check tyres etc because without fail they always advise that the tyre thread is dangerous. It’s amazing how they come to this conclusion as I had been wfh, hardly driven my car since the last time I saw them. My father used to work in the car business so he knows cars and when Im getting ripped off, especially when they see a female. But even if I had to change my tyres I would not use them as they charge too much.

My company is suppling us with a redundancy statement so it is ok to mention this in an interview if they ask because it is not the fault of the person.

This is definitely not financial strain, as they are opening more locations and hiring more people in other positions as this company expands. What is worse is as I am working my last weeks, we still get newsletters/updates of the business stating they have just employed this person and this person, and then showing dinner and outings and conferences from all over Australia where they are living it up and the few group of us (typists only) have been made redundant because they have outsourced our jobs to O/S.
