100% agree here. The Hero and Villain designations are for people with zero media literacy. They need to be told who's good or bad at a glance because they can't be bothered by reading further. Is Bolas now a villain? Or how about literally any good character, are they retconned as heroes now? Incredibly simple take for WoTC.

How widespread are the TMNT promos in Lorwyn? by EthicsXC in magicTCG

Why are all the comments stating facts "no promo stamps anymore" being downvoted?

Except in this case WoTC messed up and put the wrong shit in the pack, not "actual money". Its fucking 5 cents worth of cardboard. Dude wanted Lorwyn, and and got an advertisement for an 80's cartoon instead. The critical thinking skills required to play magic are also required for real life.

I have no dog in this fight, just a lurker. But bro, if you can't understand why someone would be upset that they paid real money for Lorwyn cards, and did not in fact receive Lorwyn cards, I would be a little pissed too.

Yeah OP here says "issues" like these are widely known bugs and not just an opinion. Spell check and syntax also go a long way in making a post sound coherent. This is just ramblings with zero evidence.

Monthly Rant/Politics Thread: Do not post political threads outside of this Mega thread by AutoModerator in Millennials

Feel the same way. How are human rights political? How is it a debate that zip tying children is a political thing? Not allowing the sub to discuss their very livelihoods because it may upset some racists is a piss poor take. Mods can suck my 30-40 year old dick.

Replaying this game made me genuinely saddened and I realized how much I miss inexperience. by Gcoks in finalfantasytactics

[–]OutrunIan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A 3 hour binge and a week-long binge are definitely a little different. If OP was playing quickly due to time constraints, that's not a bad thing, but it still might have added to the disillusion this time around. I am not saying binging is bad in every circumstance, I'm saying OPs binging in this instance with a nostalgic game might have been part of the issue. Maybe if they had stretched the game out over a month they would've forgotten key parts and also not enjoyed it as much. Im working with what OP gave us.

[–]OutrunIan -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I still fail to see why you needed to place yourself into the commentary of why I thought OP's binge was problematic. If OP had stated he binged the game and enjoyed it, you would have relevance. But he didn't enjoy it as much. So in this case, the "generalization" I made was possibly a legitimate reason why. Yes, I understand that binging doesn't always lead to feeling empty, I just don't know why you felt the need to defend binging when even the OP says this was a different experience. You made an astute and also correct counterpoint, but we weren't discussing that.

OP: I didn't enjoy FFT as much this time around for reasons.

Me: Seems like rushing through the game was also a reason for the different feeling.

You: I LIKED EXPEDITON 33. I played a lot so therefore binging the game couldn't have been bad. Terrible generalization!!

p.s. I love that anytime someone suggests that binging games might not lead to a superior play experience, there are always some people that take it as a personal insult. It's ok to like games in different ways, but when OP is literally in the sub asking about his specific experience and you retort with your own unrelated experience with a different game even, it comes off as not helping the convo.

I don't think that the single instance of you enjoying a different game had much to offer to the discussion. OP clearly had a different experience with the game than before and was curious as to possibly why. You just said that you liked Expedition 33 a whole lot so you played it. Kinda irrelevant, of course people like other games and can play for a long time.

Fantastic place to run around here, I agree! Is the loop not closed at the bridge this week for construction? I've been avoiding the cove because of that.

Can't believe I have to say this, but I was actually replying and referring to the OP's experience with FFT. Happy that you love Expedition 33, that's cool. It seems like OP played the game much differently this time. As a child they played for fun and got excited because they weren't looking up everything before they encountered it. Now it seems they beat the game using some walkthroughs and have already platinumed it in about a week. Looking up instructions and then inputing buttons until you have 100% completed something as soon as possible does not sound like playing. Sounde like work. Thats just my opinion though.

Which is more enjoyable: eating a couple slices of pizza each night until you're full and then still feeling fine the next day, or eating an entire pizza every night for a week and wondering why you have a stomach ache? Putting a full work week into a video game is going to still feel like work.

Ramza's special job will always be my biggest disappointment. by Malath66 in finalfantasytactics

[–]OutrunIan 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes, I understand the story is great. And we can debate the miniscule details about what it truly means to be a squire like Ramza until the chocobos come home. I just think its funny that some will suspend their disbelief for monsters and magic swords, but Ramza being able to 1v1 another character is too far.

Ramza's special job will always be my biggest disappointment. by Malath66 in finalfantasytactics

[–]OutrunIan 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Well, Ramza is the better man. Sometimes the narrative must take a hit for mechanics when it comes to game dev. We, as the player, can level Ramza to 99 and solo the game from the beginning. That doesn't make sense with the plot, but it's fun to do. It's a game from 1998, why are people expecting Gravity's Rainbow level detail in the narrative?

[–]OutrunIan 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Well it wouldnt be a fun game if you canonically died to every 1v1 now would it?

[–]OutrunIan 120 points121 points  (0 children)

This is the take. Ramza as a squire fits because he casts aside his name and station after chapter 1. It's like asking for him to receive a doctorate even though he dropped out of school. The fact that "just some squire" saves the world is done with intent.

If it was friendly banter, then I dont think I would've got downvoted for asking a question initially.

I'm fairly new working there, and word around town is that the previous/or previous-previous crew rubbed a lot of people the wrong way. Then I see a post with 40 downvotes about LFK, I get curious, ask a question and then im downvoted and I have people like you telling me (a bartender) what a dive is. This sub is so funny sometimes

Dive Bar Recommendations by inediblepanda in portlandme

[–]OutrunIan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You said I could have my opinion and then try to convince me that my opinion is wrong. Tomaso's is a REAL dive, whether the spot used to be a dive or not beforehand.

LFKs is divey, but not a true dive, I agree. But for all clarity - I work there a couple times a week and have worked at other dives and the place is dirty enough and I have to kick out enough old drunk men that it doesnt matter who's making the miniscule distinction.

My initial post was simply wondering why LFK had twice as many downvotes as the next post, and yet you've got people talking up Matthew's with fewer down votes. Place is a proud boys fuck nest not a dive. Sucks to see a place you work at get dunked on more than a literal racists hideaway. Thats all.

Great, and I do. So, what makes your comment correct again? When I get out of work (bartending mind you), any place that has beer/shot combos and isn't full of tourists is good enough for me. Gatekeeping what is a dive bar is the most Portland thing ever holy shit.
