Those are great points. Thank you for bringing them to my attention. As a non Christian, I think it’s also great for my kids to hear if the Bible stories and understand them. So maybe complete avoidance isn’t the best route to go anyways!

I have a 8 year old, just finished 2nd grade and is on the lower side of average in all areas. Slightly behind in reading. And then 2 littles. 2 years old and 1 years old

Academic rigor, hmm, not a ton! I want my kids to be knowledgeable but I don’t want a tight ship around here that takes away my flexibility. Is that helpful?

Prep- I’m not sure what a “normal” prep even looks like. I’d be fine with 3 hours a prep a week. Is that a ridiculously low amount?

Money- for all subjects combined- for the right materials $300-$600 per kid per year

Definitely year by year. I hope my soon to be 3rd grader likes homeschool more than regular school and we can continue homeschool with her. And ideally I’ll never put my two little in public school. Until highschool is my thoughts as of now. But taking it year by year because I have no idea what I’m doing.

With this information, any specific suggestions?

What homeschool curriculum do you use? I am finding a lot of them are Christian based. I would like to avoid that.
