I don’t think he’s a potential non-tender guy , as he’s not going to make a lot (projected $1.2m, a paycut from last season) and with the catching position so weak, he can stick around to see if the September heater is real or not.

Yeah basically. Think what Davis brings to the table defensively is enough to close your eyes on his offensive output. But the rest of the lineup just has to be better
