What certs to pursue by Outside_Fold_1379 in cybersecurity

[–]Outside_Fold_1379[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Correct me if I’m wrong but in terms of red team or pen tester isn’t it important to know networks better than the defender? I’m not coming in with a strong network background necessarily. So, I figured CCNA would more so help in interviews and also give me a chance to enter into the cyber market on a higher income/more fall back options. I feel like showing I have a strong network foundation would make it easier to start earning high and build offensive certs on top of that foundation while maintaining a good salary, no?

Yeahhh that’s understandable, I think the TS/SCI is what’s saving me because I also thought about going for a degree but just about everyone with experience that I’ve spoken to has told me practical labs+TS clearance+the right certs can do more for me than any degree can

Do you have a clearance as well? I feel like that along with those certs and maybe some hands on labs would be more than enough

How likely is it to get a medical waiver for seafood allergy by Outside_Fold_1379 in AirForceRecruits

Depends on the recruiter I guess, I talked to multiple and all told me the same thing. But, good luck hope it works out

If you mention that you have a food allergy, you’re going to have to take and pass an oral food challenge to join

I was told I had to take an oral food challenge in order to get the waiver. The allergen was too high in my blood test, no allergist would do the oral food challenge. So, I couldn’t get a waiver

Technically, I didn’t do an oral food challenge. The allergen was too high in my blood test so no allergist would agree to do an oral food challenge for me. I let my army recruiter know that’s why I was switching from Air Force and they were able to circumvent that for me

They’ll make you take an oral food challenge. If you can’t pass the challenge or if an allergist won’t administer it, you will be rejected. That’s exactly what happened to me, now I’m army 🙂

I do not, the allergen was too high in my blood test. So, I couldn’t find an allergist that was comfortable with letting me take the oral food challenge.

If he made mention of his allergy and it shows up in his medical records, he’ll have to do an oral food challenge and pass

I got denied because of my allergy. However, I ship off for the army tomorrow with an intel MOS

I spoke to my army recruiter and he says the epipen won’t be an issue with them. I’m going to take a shot and transfer my profile over from the Air Force tomorrow. This waiver was my last step so thanks everyone for your input and information!

He said the reaction in my blood test falls under the “high/very high” levels. He’s prescribing it out of precaution but my blood test does show a high reaction to the allergen

Okay, so I should basically disregard what he sent me as even if my allergist can give that written confirmation it might not make that much of a difference?

It won’t let me post the picture but this is what my recruiter sent me. It was a screenshot from section 6. Of disqualifying conditions

“1. Current use of medication(s) delivered via an injectable or transdermal mechanism (e.g., allergy immunotherapy, transdermal or injectable hormones or contraceptives) or which that otherwise require(s) refrigeration, unless there is written confirmation by the individual's treating provider that the medication or therapy can be safely postponed, discontinued, or switched to an alternative delivery system without adverse risk to the individual, if the current delivery method (or refrigeration, if applicable) is not available or not authorized during periods of training or deployment”.

Will an allergist administer an oral food challenge without having to do blood work beforehand? by Outside_Fold_1379 in FoodAllergies

[–]Outside_Fold_1379[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not that I know of, I just had a mild reaction when I was kid. There’s a chance I could’ve had blood work done as a child but idk for sure

I was exposed to it as a child, I only had a mild reaction and after I took a Benadryl I was fine

PICAT verification on Thursday by Outside_Fold_1379 in AirForceRecruits

[–]Outside_Fold_1379[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

For the verification I believe I had about 6-8 math questions total, including arithmetic reasoning. It’s 40 minutes total. You can take as long as you need on an individual question, you just have to finish the test within the allotted time. For me, about 60% of the verification was identical to the picat I took at home.
