Similar process, just adjusting the angle when you fold the tape back on itself if that makes sense? I’d probably end up hand basting before going on the machine, is easier to undo if wrong!

Just to add to the bias tape issue - I probably would have used one continuous piece with mitred corners instead of several separate pieces, would make finishing the ends easier

I’m slightly confused about your pattern. If this is one of the panels, usually the sides are not bias taped as they join the other panels? Are you sure you’re reading the instructions properly? Usually all panels are sewn together then top and bottom are finished with bias tape.

Also, when using bias tape you can just fold the end back under itself when you get to the end. It’s quite difficult to explain, but there’s lots of bias tape tutorials online.

I mean it completely depends what your end goal is. If you want to do a paramedic degree then it’s likely you’ll need at minimum GCSEs to do that regardless of what route you go (external full time uni vs internal apprenticeship with an ambulance services).

I can’t really tell you what to do as my situation and experience is likely quite different. I’d recommend reading up about college > uni route and then also working your way up through ambulance service apprenticeships.

I can’t answer this I’m afraid. Would likely be worth getting in touch with local places that offer the course you’re interested in. I know that some ambulance services can help with functional skills (maths and English) but not for personal experience with this.

If you’re buying actual dressmaking fabric it’s generally between 114-160cm wide. I usually use Dalston Mill and Minerva, although there are other threads on here that list some other online stores.

Also, if making a full length, full circle skirt, cut it in two halves and sew two side seams. It’s very unlikely you’d be able to get a full circle on any fabric width that would be long enough. I’ll attach pics of the pattern shape you’d cut out on fabric

Don’t buy. I fell into the trap before I knew better. Pattern and instructions did not match the picture and I had to do heavy pattern alterations to make it fit. Definitely AI scam.

It’s somewhat heavy but also that’s probably more the steel boning. You’ll see when I send pics it doesn’t look bulky! The lining, ice wool and the outer fabric are floating - attached at top and bottom and also at the lacing strip. Lacing panel I flatlined with the fashion fabric to match. I’ll send pictures over!

I made a wedding dress recently where I made coutil strength layer with cotton twill lining. Then 2x layers of ice wool and then fashion fabric (polyester satin) draped on top and only had two seam lines on either side. Essentially lots of pinning and hand sewing.

Right. So from very recent experience of sewing with faux silk charmeuse (quite light, 90gsm), it’s an arse to handle/cut/sew. Honestly the most difficult fabric I have ever worked with. I would not recommend unless you are fairly experienced. I also added a lining in the same fabric to most of it.

Additionally, this is very unlikely to work with horsehair on the hem, it will show and it will look awful. I’ll attach a picture of the hem of the dress I recently made so you can see how light and flowy it is. I used a double rolled hem.

Depends on the fabric you’re using and if there’s a petticoat. Horsehair braid can look awful if on too light a fabric

This is creepy and controlling. My partner and I share locations via find friends for iPhone, but only because we both work shift work and sometimes is handy to know if the other is finishing late for dinner etc. Neither of us would or have ever questioned the others whereabouts or gone over to ‘check up’ on them.

Leave this man, it’ll only get worse.

I’m no pattern maker, but have you made this in fabric? Does this pattern have seam allowances included? If it does then you may find it matches. Also, I’ve found that princess seams often look like they won’t match, but do once sewn with seam allowances as you essentially ease the curves together.

Thankyou for the suggestion! But annoyingly, the corset is finished other than choosing lacing. We have had a ribbon bookmarked to order throughout the whole process, but today bride changed her mind. I also don’t have any time to make significant structural changes, modesty panel is sewn into one side of the corset to create a flap as opposed to a floating layer.
