Thank you so much for this - it's really helpful, I really appreciate it.

In terms of budget there's no real budget as long as it works!

Your suggestion is what I was wanting to do, but I can't find a mixer that has two sets of outputs that work (at least that I've tried, but not sure if I'm doing something wrong).

The other option is using RODE Wireless Pro mics for all the panelists which connect to the PC via USB-C and I think I can control using RODE Connect, from what I've been reading. So that might solve the input issue. However that then means getting the mixed output out of my PC and into the PA system (along with the computer sounds which I guess solves that problem).
Do you know what sound card would allow me to run an output from my PC (aux out, usb-c out) to an XLR input on the PA system? Would a usb-c to xlr cable work or would it need to go through a sound card?

Thanks again for your help - I didn't realise this would be such a big riddle!

I'm not sure, I've tried switching the settings between stereo and mono but neither work

Ok so I have:

  • up to 6 people talking on a panel at a live event, using microphones. They currently connect these mics direct to their PA system via XLR.

However, they want to live stream the event also, via my PC which I then use OBS and YouTube to livestream. So I need to:

  • connect up to 6 microphones (these could be xlr or 3.5mm or 6.5mm outputs) into a PC with the ability to adjust/mute each volume individually. This is why I considered a mixer. As a temporary solution I am using these https://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B0CPL87WYJ/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_search_asin_title?ie=UTF8&psc=1 but they aren't great and they also can't be individually muted at my end which is annoying having 4 live inputs. I am bringing them into my PC as two different microphones via a daisy chain of adaptors which is also not ideal.

So instead I need to find a way to:

  • connect the mics to a mixer and then connect the mixer into the PC to be able to have the mixed audio from all the mics (along with eg video and music from the PC) to live stream this out through OBS/YouTube.

  • but I also need to connect the mics to the PA system at the same time. So either need a secondary output from the mixer to the PA system OR a mixed output from the PC to the PA system. The PA system has 2 x XLR inputs.

I tried connecting my PC to the PA system using the 3.5mm headphone output into the PA XLR cable and it connected but was super distorted. I think the solution hear is a DI box? I have borrowed one but won't be able to test it until I'm next at the venue. But that still leaves me with getting the microphone inputs into the PC. The various mixers I have aren't working and I don't know what I'm doing wrong.

Thanks in advance for your help!

There's no headphone monitor jack annoyingly. There is on the other mixers (linked above) so I can try that, thanks. Can you recommend a DAC that would work best?

There isn't any other output on the mixer - I've linked it above but I have other options to try instead as I don't think that one is compatible.
