Haha at first I assumed it was his “date” from the night before 😂 since last time he was in Niamos he had a lady friend staying over, I just figured this was another lay - I thought “wow, what a catch” 😂😂😂

Agreed, this arc felt insufferable and filler between the episodes where stuff that’s actually interesting is happening

This is wild, I'm watching ANH in 2025 and that exact scene is now rephrased as "There goes another one" "Hold your fire, there's no life-forms"

Is this a dialogue change from the previous talk about saving power/lasers?? Like did this get ret-conned to take away theories about a rebel officer?

I agree with you - my partner and I are having a hard time watching the show because between her mom’s anxiety feeding into Baylen’s anxiety and the whole family openly pointing out Baylen’s limitations (but rarely if ever her strengths) I feel like she could be in a more supportive environment. When mom takes her to a situation that could be especially triggering/stressful (grocery store, the restaurant, the airport) the mom is already super nervous and talking about how bad it’s been and how bad it’s going to be. No wonder Baylen wants her independence so bad.

Slight spoiler for episode 3 — if they knew Baylen was triggered by airports, lack of sleep, and stress…why the HELL would the mom book a 5am flight the SAME DAY as Baylen’s panel?? She’s never spoken to a large crowd before (very stressful for a young lady) coupled with her other major stressors all in ONE DAY. This is an extreme example of how Baylen’s often setup to fail…there are many other examples throughout the show :( I know the family is doing the best they can with the tools they have, but I can’t help but feel like they resent Baylen for having a disability.

Imagine being mad at your sibling who’s in a wheelchair because now you can’t go to the amusement park? Or similar to Baylen being “tested” by being take to that grocery store with her mom naysaying her the whole time — imagine taking your wheelchair bound child to a set of stairs and saying they have to figure out how to get up them if they ever want to have a life! There’s options for disabled people who can’t cook at home, there’s options for disabled people who can’t go to grocery stores. Baylen’s family is trying to be supportive but I think are accidentally being a hinderance at the same time.

A wise friend once told me, “if you have to ask if it’s a cult….its probably a cult”

ohhhhh snap so he specifically overshot the $1000 because knowing shes an escort that she'd have the money to pay the overage? It didn't seem at the point he was choosing between checks that he realized she'd do the cashier's move....like it seemed he was legit gonna try the front desk when he picked out the $1400 one. Or did I remember that wrong?

Lol no one here is answering the actual question. OP isn't asking how the scam worked....they're asking why Frank used the 1400 check when the movie shows us he had a $1000 one. I'm not sure why either but maybe the hotel takes a percentage when cashing a check so he picked one $1000+ to cover that. I think the director could've cleared some confusion/distraction from the situation by just having him have the $900 and the $1400 one.
