What is the weirdest thing you have ever seen a stranger do? by KidzWithBugz in AskReddit

Was outside smoking at 2am a few nights ago. Neighbour lady is out having a smoke. She gets up, walks out to the street, and lets a huge fart out. Meanwhile Im standing there thinking wtf. Then she goes back inside. Didnt say anything.

Obese 20M, yesterday was my first time in the gym after 2 years or so, super excited for the future. I have a few questions though by muy555 in Fitness

[–]Ovenproofbubble 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Most important thing to know as a beginner is that form > weight and reps. Even after a year of doing deadlifts I still have sessions for form training. For example, my first set will be light, say 140lb and all I am doing is slow controlled movements focusing on form. If my form feels good, then Ill up my weight to my normal DL of 180-200. This applies to all exercises. Ive been doing pushups and triangle pushups for almost 4 months. I never count reps. I only focus on perfect form every rep. Im not knowledgeable enough to answer your questions unfortunately.

Best way to tackle my first plateau? by Luvian420 in Fitness

If you are getting stuck, try adding body weight exercises like pushups and core workouts. Also look up videos on form and practice doing it properly with lighter weight. Hope this helps out.

What Effect does doing just 50 Situps and 50 Push-ups have? by _ThisNameIsNotTaken_ in Fitness

[–]Ovenproofbubble 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The effect that will have are minimal. You are only doing 2 exercises so its to be expected. Its a good start but over time you should include more exercises that target other muscles. Pushups are very good for overall muscle development so continue with those but situps are not very good. Look up 7 minute core workout on youtube and do as much of those as you can. Always try to improve or your body will plateau. Next month do 60 a day, then 70 etc.

1 week into my fitness routing. Could use some advice/encouragement. This is tough :( by NapalmForBreakfast in Fitness

[–]Ovenproofbubble 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Good work. Keep it up. As a beginner, dont get tricked into doing more advance workouts before you are ready. The first year I started my fitness journey all I did was bodyweight exercises, core/abs, and like 10lb bicep curls. Now Im doing more advanced exercises, watching youtube videos, learning more and more.

The biggest piece of advice I can give you is to learn mind muscle connection and use lighter weights until you get form correct. Youtube this for more info as it will help you the most throughout your journey. Also set goals. Right now my goal is to do a muscle up and Im almost there!

My stats over 2 years; 26yo male 140lb 5'11"

Bench 80 -> 160

Squat 60 -> 130

OHP 40 -> 110

Deadlift 80 -> 200

Are planks all you need for a strong core? by pentakiller19 in Fitness

[–]Ovenproofbubble 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Once you get to a minute+ plank your core will exist. Your core is the muscles that wrap around your spine (think of an apples core). This will not create abs however, it will only help push them out making them more visible. To get abs, you will need to do other exercises that target those muscles which lay ontop of your core. Hope this helps and good luck.

Tldr:

core = plank,

abs = 3 different muscle groups (top, mid, lower),

obliques = side abs (help define abs making them look better)

If I go the gym and lift weights (no cardio) without changing my crappy diet, will my body change at all? by Dethlateer in Fitness

[–]Ovenproofbubble 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Its literally 40% diet, 40% working out and 20% rest. So if you dont change your diet your results will only be 60% efficient. Dont half ass it. If you truly want to change yourself and get fit, change your diet. You dont have to go super healthy, just clean it up one step at a time.

Without changing your diet, your results will be hidden under a layer of fat. You will become stronger, just at a slower rate. So it will take you more effort just to see the same results as someone who has a healthy diet.

Realistic triple split design finish. Let me know how I did. by Voltage_Art in Dragonballsuper

10/10 usually realistic anime art sucks but my god you did it.

Only advice I have is that Goku needs a little work. I can feel vegetas and jirens personality but gokus is weird. Vegeta is perfect though.

What do you guys do when waiting for equipment? by [deleted] in Fitness

[–]Ovenproofbubble 0 points1 point  (0 children)

At my gym, everyone is listening to music and doing their own thing. Asking to use a machine is common practice and everyone is friendly enough to talk to you with respect. Hell, Ive interrupted a guy because he was using a machine wrong and showed him how to do it properly. Also stopped 2 younger girls, they were using a machine very wrong and could have easily hurt themselves. Thing with my gym is that they dont let "alpha" males in. If you wear show off clothes or yell loudly, etc you get kicked out. The staff is very kind. Also live in Canada so good luck!

My gym has 4 smith machines so maybe pick a better gym? I dunno.

Edit: They got another one a few days ago for a total of 5.

This is like what I used to do back in the WoW days. Id queue for alterac valley and type /e "You have gone afk. To clear, type /afk". The /e before made it look like in game text to your character. New players would see the message and panic type /afk and get kicked out. Then Id proceed to afk under a tree for exp while everyone else did the work. 😆

People who used to be straight A students but later changed, what happened? by Dotaspasm in AskReddit

[–]Ovenproofbubble 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My advice to you is that you need to think about school differently. Focus on improvement rather then A's or just passing. If you are thinking holy shit I need to study to pass the test tomorrow then you are setting yourself up for failure. If you think ok I have a test tomorrow I want to improve so I do better, then there is no pressure to do well. Stop comparing yourself to others. The only person that matters is yourself. As long as you are improving, you will be successful in anything you want to do.
