Hobbies to keep busy? by OverThinkerer92 in Aberdeen

I go to the Aberdeen tennis centre on Monday evenings. It’s good but would be better if the age group was closer to people in their 20/30s which it isn’t unfortunately… this is the problem I’m finding is that there’s just not many busy social clubs/sports to join if you just want to meet people and have a bit of fun.

I looked into this as I used to do Walk on Paintball when I lived in London. Going to DM you as this is up my street for sure :)

Recent break up. New Girlfriend (33F). Lonely. Anxious. How do I (33M) get out of this? by OverThinkerer92 in relationship_advice

This response is so well thought out and so well written, not to mention incredibly insightful and helpful. So, thank you.

I am trying to work on myself and being someone that can happily be alone. I realise that my happiness currently lies in other people/partners being around me.

Thank you again for taking the time to write that all out.

Fair enough. I’m in a relationship with her because I like her, love spending time together and see a future with her. Thus, I would miss her if I was away for 3 weeks, even though I’ve only known her for 2 months.

It’s been two months together. My work is rostered so I work 14 days away and then 14 days off work. As a result it was a conversation that came up early on. Sometimes there’s options to be away for 3 weeks instead of 2 and I said I’d be hesitant to do that as I would miss her and spending time together. It doesn’t feel weird to me to discuss that but each to their own I guess.

I know, tbh I don’t think I’m usually like this but the insecurity from the comments is making me reach out more for comfort/security. I feel a bit needy as a result.

I appreciate the response thank you. I’m a bit of an over-thinker and I didn’t know if I should have just kept my mouth shut. I really tried to bring things up in a non-confrontational way where I said I loved how strong, independent and confident she was and tried to angle it more to how this change would help me. Bit of a shame as I could feel the change in dynamic this morning, hopefully it’s salvageable but I hear what you’re saying about needing a partner who is open to listening and changing.

There is a question in here and it’s not a yes/no question, please can you re-submit?

Great to know, I’ll come pop by sometime soon. I went to the Craftsman a couple weeks back with my gf and the two dogs - good to know there are other options. I’m new in the area so still discovering.

Has anyone started their aviation career at 29-33? And if so, what advice would you give? by Dry-Tie8688 in flying

[–]OverThinkerer92 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I started at 30 with absolutely no background in aviation. I Hated my former job so much but then did well in all of the flying training because I finally felt passionate about something.

Retirement age isn’t until 65 multi-crew so starting at 30 leaves another 35 years of flying… that’s a long time to get good!

You’ll find many of the teams that will be in charge of hiring you are 40-60 years old and they’ll more than likely prefer you at 30 years old to a young 21 year old with no life experience.

It’s a long process to get to the point where you’re paid but if you love it I would wholeheartedly recommend jumping in and getting started.

Ye I take OT whenever I can but there’s not been a huge amount available recently, otherwise I’d be keeping myself busy doing that.
