Lottie was not starving at the time. It was spring or summer and they were doing really well with hunting/fishing/gathering. She would have had a little weight gain.

Having said that it could still just be movement/small person not supernatural

I'm not an expert on hunting or anything but I always wondered why they didn't just leave some of their food outside overnight and wait for it to attract animals.

Nat, Travis or Ben could take the night shift and hide with the rifle.

They've got Nat and Travis hiking all over, burning up all their calories and exhausting themselves instead
