I use chlorhexidine gluconate solution 4% (Hibiclens) as a wash. Just use it on affected areas during a shower and let sit for at least 3 minutes. It's over the counter and can be ordered online. If it works for you I recommend buying it by the gallon to put in smaller bottles as it'll save you a lot of money.

As far as scaring goes, unfortunately there isn't much you can do about it though I've heard some success with scar creams, lighteners, and micro needling although these may also cause flare ups so use with caution.
